Unlock! Mystery Adventures Review & Giveaway

This is the first time our family have played this type of game. I must admit I was looking forward to trying something different with these Mystery Adventures.  The format sounded quite exciting. You have 60 minutes to solve the adventure and escape the scenario you are in.  Whether it’s the haunted house, the sinking ship or the treasure island.

Unlock! also have other sets with different adventures once you have cracked these. After successfully completing the tutorial we were feeling quietly confident we could master the game.  Well even the easiest proved a little too challenging for us…

Need To Improve My Skills In Puzzles

As it turned out my skills in puzzles are very rusty.  I found the game quite tricky! You can get hints on each of the cards which helps if your stuck.  Fortunately you can still see the game through to completion. The timer count down has you on edge.  I think we were panicking more than normal, desperately looking over each card trying to find a link or a hidden clue! In the case of The Nautilus’ Traps things were even more frantic as we needed to find oxygen to get our full time!!! I think I prefer having the whole 60 minutes straight away saying that it added to the reality of the game, oxygen would be in short supply if you were in that situation!

You get time penalties if you make the wrong move, so it pays to spend a few seconds searching the scene before doing something silly! So far we have played the House on the Hill and only escaped after a good few clues AND letting time run on, I think we were about 20 minutes over our hour before we removed the curse and restored things to normal in the run down manor.

Scooby Doo and the gang we are not

It didn’t take away from the enjoyment for the boys though they just like seeing what might combine with different things. The Nautilus’ Trap we are going to have another attempt at as we got a little mixed up!  But given this scenario is harder than the House on the Hill I don’t fancy our chances.

The cards work in conjunction with an app, the app provides a background of suitable sound too, so it feels quite atmospheric. You do get quite wrapped up in the adventure. As for re-playability once you have used your skill (or cheated!) your way to the end I am not sure if you would try again. I guess you could keep bringing it out for friends who haven’t tried it to see how they compare with you. The game is available to purchase from your local friendly game shop please? www.findyourgamestore.co.uk.
