Wimbledon Inspired Gin cocktails with #cbias

I
am not particularly sporty if I can help it, as a rule I do not watch it on
television or engage in it on a personal level (although sadly that is now
changing thanks to another review, sob cry I ache today, but that’s another
story!).

But
when Bombay Sapphire gin was on offer as an incentive to watch Wimbledon,
tennis suddenly looked a whole lot more appealing! I am feeling particularly frazzled lately, youngest was
especially wild tonight… so sitting on a blanket with hubbie to watch the highlights
from Wimbledon was actually quite relaxing.
The fact I had a big fat cream scone to accompany my tasty cocktail did
not hurt either!!!

I
picked the theme for our snack and gin cocktail session to include strawberries
because they are a huge part of Wimbledon.
I did a little search on the Internet and stumbled upon a lovely
strawberry gin cocktail recipe. Then
headed off to our local supermarket The Co-operative quick smart to get the
ingredients sorted:

1
strawberry (another to decorate if your feeling inspired!)

2
fresh basil leaves

2
teaspoons of white sugar

Ice
cubes

2
fluid oz of Bombay Sapphire

1
fluid oz of fresh lemon juice

3
fluid oz of club soda (we had to improvise as they only had soda water)

It
was quite simple to make and delicious and very
refreshing! I was not entirely
convinced about having basil in there, but it worked well and the flavours
seemed to compliment each other quite nicely!
Hubbie is impressed not only was my company was given willingly to watch
the tennis; but he also got to enjoy a cocktail with me.

The
end result was two very chilled out parents, ready to face tomorrow! But seeing as the cocktail was such a
success we might be up scaling our intimate picnic and including some dear
friends. Am sure they would benefit
from a decent Bombay Sapphire gin cocktail too! I have found a few more on the Bombay Sapphire website so I think
we could start to experiment and actually tennis is okay really, lots of men in shorts, its definitely growing on me!

  1. You definitely can't beat a good gin cocktail and the strawberry one sounds perfect for Wimbledon. I actually find watching the tennis really relaxing – I think it's the ball going backwards and forwards, it's quite hypnotic.

  2. Tennis is deeply relaxing (especially with a G&T) – unless it's a shouty women's match – worse than listening to my kids yelling at each other!!
