Travelodge Review: Our Stay in Colwyn Bay

We
were excited to be reviewing the Travelodge in Colwyn Bay after hearing lots of
good things about the new look rooms.

Our night stay last week would have cost £60 for a family
of four, which seemed quite reasonable really, the room itself was big, the tea
making facilities good and it was very clean.
The fact it was one of the rooms that had been modernised was a welcome
bonus. We have paid far more for rooms
of a much inferior quality before.

I
think Travelodge offers great value as standard but with the improvements you
feel you are getting more comfort and luxury for your money. The design flows beautifully, with
co-ordinating curtains and a sash on the bed and matching wood panels.

The
mattress was lovely, usually the boys’ kick us out of the king size bed and we
end up on the pullouts designated for the children.

This
time however hubbie and I remained firm at bedtime, we were not giving up the
Travelodge Dreamer Bed and its 950 individual pocketed springs for
anyone!!! It made all the difference in
being able to wake up at the crack of dawn to celebrate youngest turning
five! Tired parents need a decent
nights sleep to cope after all…

The
room came with plenty of towels and I loved the bathroom! The red brick effect was very attractive; I
really do love the new makeover. As a
worrying mum I liked how the bath had an anti slip material on it which felt
safer when bathing the boys.

The
bath was big enough for me to stretch out my legs but not for hubbie but he
could stand and shower away quite happily, so it was perfect for our needs.

There
is complimentary parking available at the hotel but it is based across the road
at the shopping centre. Fortunately
there was a loading bay so you can drop off your luggage before parking for the
night, so this did not inconvenience us in anyway.

I
found the receptionist to be extremely helpful and friendly, Andrew was
informative about the area and recommended somewhere we could eat. We followed his suggestion and had a very enjoyable
meal at The Toad.

The
£77million investment
programme means that there has never been a better time to book a stay with Travelodge.

  1. Ooo! It's great to know that Travelodge is having a make over! We normally dread booking with them but knowing that they are refurbishing their branches we might just give them a try again next time 🙂
