Today we had such a pleasant visit to Gypsy Wood. I thought it was great value at £21.99 for
our family of four and that also included one ride on the little train. You could buy a bag of feed for an extra 85p (chicken,
goat, rabbit or pig), have a go on the digger for a £1 and have a donkey ride
for £2 each. My boys thoroughly enjoyed
themselves and are already asking when they can visit next.
There were ample picnic benches dotted around if you decided
to bring a picnic like we did but we still found time to get some cake from the cafe. The whole place was
very clean and tidy looking and the staff were exceptionally friendly,
especially the young gentleman helping with the animal handling and the train
Watching the sheep racing was fun; you were handed out a
coloured flag depending on which sheep you wanted to support! The boys went for orange and their sheep
literally flew around the course. Mine
came last and I had high hopes for yellow (I am sure he gave me an encouraging nod before the race started!!!).
Check the timings when you arrive to make sure you do not miss anything, we were very fortunate that we just happened to chance on everything at the right time, except for meeting the giant rabbits as we arrived after that had happened. The animal handling was very good, there was a pony to groom, and a tiny chicken, rabbits and guinea pigs to meet.

They had a shy reluctant picture with the pretty Fairy Princess!
Both the boys enjoyed making a musical masterpiece (racket more like!) in the Musical Tree House, there were lots of different instruments to try and it was nice (and noisy) to see them expressing themselves. I could see youngest in a band when he was older he had quite a good rhythm.
The attraction was spread out over quite an area so
you do not feel crowded and squished in with everyone, even during the height
of the summer holidays. You could make the most of the green space stopping for pictures on the way round!
On a glorious day like today I cannot think of anywhere better to have been.
