I think as my boys have got older I have found buying presents to be quite difficult. They already own so much, it’s a real challenge finding something completely different! I thought it would be helpful writing a Christmas gift guide as I also hate feeling like I am buying for the sake of buying just so it looks like there is enough to go under the tree. I would rather put a little bit more thought into what I get them. Here you can find a little inspiration to help you if your struggling too.

Novelty Treats

I had to kick off my Christmas Gift Guide with something edible! My boys love treats like this most of all.

choconchoc makes such original chocolate delicacies, they are quirky or beautiful but never boring! The chocolate sprouts (£9.99) are an excellent choice for Christmas. Children will be completely fooled by their appearance and wonder why on earth Santa brought them real sprouts! But if they are brave enough to have a nibble they will soon taste the delicious creamy white chocolate. It’s a gift that adds some humour over the festive season. My boys will remember those sprouts forever!

If you’re looking for something more traditional the chocolate reindeer and carrots (£9.99) make lovely Christmas stocking gifts. My boys always like to have a sweet treat included, sometimes they even get to eat it first thing before opening their main presents!  Christmas is a magical time of year so it’s worth buying chocolate that
is a bit more imaginative and memorable.

Candy Floss Maker

My two have tried lots of variants of machines that make edible treats with mixed success. The chocolate coin maker was an outright disaster, Mr Frosty was fun but you needed a lot of strength to use the handle and get enough ice and the chocolate bar maker was a real highlight! This year I am going to see how they get on with a candy floss maker. One in Argos looked quite good and was on the 3 for 2 offer, but I will still see if I can find any Argos voucher codes to bring down the price further. I like that with this model you can use normal granulated sugar you don’t need to buy anything fancy if you don’t want too. You can easily change the colour with food colouring too.

Scooter

I like my boys to be active and get some fresh air every day, one of the best ways to achieve that is with a new scooter from Skates.co.uk. My son had outgrown his previous scooter so this year he can practise his stunts in style!  Scooters also make getting your children from A to B much easier, scooting along they seem to have so much more energy and don’t constantly grumble that their legs ache! It’s the Christmas gift that just keeps on giving!!!

HEXBUG BattleBots Arena

My two loved watching Robot Wars on television so when I saw this set I knew it would be ideal for them. At £59.99 its pretty pricey though so I did try and get a voucher code for Smyths Toys. The reviews sound quite promising, I look forward to seeing which robot will be the fastest and strongest contender in the arena!

LEGO

A firm favourite here year after year. With the release of the Ninjago movie you can now buy lots of fabulous themed LEGO to recreate all your favourite scenes. The boys are eager to build up their collection and battle to save Ninjago City. It’s tough when your dad is an evil warlord and you have foes like foes like LEGO NINJAGO Garma Mecha Man (£59.99) to defeat!

You must use all your best moves to take down these challenging bad guys! Children will love using these fantastic sets and their own imagination to have mystical adventures. Each set enhances your child’s play, whether they have a new vehicle or another ninja to join in the fight! If you want to get the children something extra special the LEGO Ninjago Movie 70618 Destiny’s Bounty (£109.99) looks the part! You get lots of characters, weapons and accessories and an incredible flying ship to build.

Toilet Humour

If your boys are anything like mine the Fishin’ For Floaters Game (£7.99) from Find Me A Gift will make them chuckle. It is a bit cheeky using your fishing rod and net to catch the poop, but it will certainly make bath time more interesting.

Learning Gifts

To balance the naughtiness, I also liked the Electronic Dictionary bookmark (reduced to £17.99) from the same company just to throw in some educational value as well. You can team this up with a book by your child’s favourite author.
