When you take on a hobby, you take the time to find out everything there is to know about it. That often means breaking it down to see its insides so that you can fully understand how it works.
However, some people will refuse to get to know something they use on a daily basis. Most notable are the ones who use computers and drive cars.
Some people will not want to touch or get to know their vehicle out of fear of making the problems worse. This is especially true for those who bought their vehicle through car loan offers. So, instead of figuring out why their tail light is out, they take it to the mechanic; the mechanic proceeds to do something that takes less than two hours to fix, and they end up paying much more than they should have.
Now, taking your vehicle to the mechanic for big issues like engine failure is a must. But for tail lights and minor repairs, all you need is an afternoon, the right tools and some good music to keep you entertained.
Today, we tell you all about the simple repairs to your common car problems that you can make in your garage without spending too much money.
If you notice your car is tilting slightly and have a thumping sound as you drive down the road, one of your tires could be flat. Changing a tire is easy, and anyone can do it.
Take out your spare tire from the trunk, along with the jack and the lug nut ratchet. Now, place the jack underneath your car, making sure that you choose a stable part underneath. That means avoiding any of the plastic parts. After that, pump up the lever and raise your car up.
Next, take the ratchet and undo the lug nuts, pop the spare in its place, replace the lug nuts, and slowly lower your vehicle.
Congratulations! You have just changed a flat tire.
Head or Tail Lights
It can be dangerous to have one of your light stop working. You won’t be able to signal to the cars behind you when you’re making a turn, or you won’t be able to see the road in front of you when you drive.
Luckily, changing these lights is no different than changing the lights in your house. First, find out what type of lights you will need. As it will often depend on the car make and model. Once you’ve purchased the lights, it is now time to get to work. Pop out the lights from the back of the housing and replace the old bulb. Now that you have the new lights in, your car is now good to go.
Spark Plug Replacement
With regular vehicles, you can often do this yourself. All you have to do is get under the hood of the car, unscrew the spark plug and replace them with brand new ones. Remember, it is essential to keep your spark plug clean because it is what gives life to your car’s engine.
You’ll know that the alternator in your car is dead when the lights and gadgets in your car don’t light up. To replace the alternator, all you need to do is remove all the electrical connections, unbolt the brackets, and use the built-in tension arm to free the serpentine belt. Now that it’s out, replace everything back the way it came in, and you are good to go. These are just some of the simple repairs you can do in your garage. If you have kids, it’s best to teach them these simple life skills while they are young. That way, they will know their way around a car much better even after they have grown into adults.
