If you are feeling frustrated with you garden, it might be time for a change.  Cutting your grass can be a lot of work.  Never mind keeping on top of the rest of the garden maintenance elsewhere.  The pruning, planting and wedding.  If you want a perfect garden it takes lots of work.

We don’t have much time to commit to our garden.  But our retired neighbours have such beautiful gardens and spend a lot of time pottering around in them.  I don’t want ours being the only eyesore in the neighbourhood.

I plan on using a few shortcuts which will save us time and energy.  We are not particularly green fingered, so I need to find ways to have a garden that is easy to manage.  But still looks good.

Using Artificial Grass

If you struggle to find time to mow the lawn laying artificial grass will free up more time.  Once set up artificial grass can be extremely hardwearing and doesn’t require much in the way of maintenance.  You can even buy products that are very similar to real grass.

Avoid Tender Plants

These are plants that don’t cope well with the cold.  They require special treatment at certain times of the year.  They might need moving indoors in winter or wrapping up to protect them when the temperature drops.  All extra work you can avoid if you pick plants that are hardier all year round.

Wise Planting

If it grows too quick or needs lots of pruning, consider an easier alternative.  Some plants don’t require much watering either, so you could use these ones instead.  It should save you being out with your watering can every day!

Wild Borders

You can still achieve a beautiful garden letting the borders grow more naturally.  Plant wildflowers and enjoy the pretty colours and the break from continual wedding.  This will encourage nature in your garden, colourful butterflies and bees.

It’s one of the garden trends for 2018 appreciate your gardens imperfections and let nature do its bit to help.  Maybe its time we changed our idea of what a perfect garden really is.

Controlling Weeds

If you want a tidy border you could use bark to stop the weeds growing through or plant/sow seeds thickly so they don’t have space!

Plant Perennials

These come back year after year, so you don’t have to worry about replanting.  You can rely on them to bring colour to the garden each year.

Hire a gardener

If all else fails and you have the cash to splash you could hire a gardener to keep your outdoor space looking good.  If you have artificial grass they won’t be spending a big chunk of their time mowing your lawn and can attend to other gardening tasks.
