Giving a meaningful gift with chocolate truffles
I am pretty much sorted for Christmas but if I do see something small, I happily add it to my mum’s Christmas pile. She had a tough start to the month with an operation for bowel cancer so now she is home I want to help her have a wonderful Christmas. This year is going to be a more meaningful celebration. I feel every moment we have together is a blessing after we went through something like that. I want her to be spoilt rotten with every little indulgence. I was looking at giving a meaningful gift with chocolate truffles as another gift to the Christmas pile will please her no end.
Why chocolate truffles make a good gift?
My mum has a sweet tooth, but I don’t mind her having a little of what she fancies. To be honest chocolate can be a real mood booster. After everything she has been through its nice to cheer up in with a bit of chocolatey goodness! Chocolate also releases endorphins which decreases levels of pain. Perfect if you have been through surgery like my mum and are still a bit tender and sore. Eating chocolate might reduce her reliance on pain medication. I know how I would prefer to treat my aches and pains.
Usually you think of a bit of dark chocolate in moderation for improvements to your health! But research has shown that milk chocolate can have lots of health benefits too. I love this nugget of information as bitter dark chocolate isn’t really my thing! I hate the taste, I like creamy milk chocolate. Apparently, it’s down to flavonoids in all chocolate which sort out all the damaging free radicals causing problems in our bodies. So, head to your kitchen and crack open a bar of chocolate or a box of truffles to celebrate.
A little bit of indulgence
Chocolate truffles are such a decadent treat. They offer a bit of luxury for the recipient since they came to be back in 1895! So, named because they resemble the edible fungi truffles. Since their creation they have been favoured for special occasions.
How can truffles be meaningful?
You might not think its possible giving a meaningful gift with chocolate truffles but the ones available in Thorntons can also be personalised. In my mum’s case a get-well message would be apt, and I would know the chocolate would be making her feel better. It can be quite a knock to your system having major surgery especially when you are in your seventies. My mum is slowly on the mend; however, you don’t bounce back instantly from something like this.
She needs lots of TLC and a special message in truffles is something I hadn’t considered until today. She has all sorts in her Christmas bundle bag, but I won’t give any spoilers just in case she happens upon this blog post. I know she would appreciate the personalisation aspect of these chocolate truffles. We are all feeling a little sentimental and emotional this year.
I have also written a blog post rounding up the best chocolate gifts to buy if you want more inspiration.
