(Gifted) We were pleased to be sent a delivery of children’s books from Books2Door.  With the COVID-19 lock-down it is lovely for the boys to have some new reading material.  Prior to the library closing we took out lots of books.  But they were almost finished, and I know we have plenty more weeks ahead of us to fill!

Reading is a form of escapism especially when your world has shrunk around you.  I want my boys to have things to look forward to, so they stay happy and upbeat.  There is a lot going on right now and its important we take care of your children’s mental health.  When you start reading a book your child can explore different places and learn new ideas.  Life in lockdown isn’t quite so tedious when you have a good book.

Adding a reading hour in your home-schooling schedule also gives you a bit of a break without any guilt!  You know they are entertained whilst expanding their vocabulary!

The prices at Books2Door are very reasonable.  I was provided with a £30 voucher to spend on their site.  I was surprised by how much I managed to order for that.

Dream Cities: Colouring for mindfulness

This is a wonderful colouring book that serves as a calming activity for children.  When you are stuck indoors with your children you soon learn to appreciate those moments of calm.  The pictures are very detailed with plenty to colour in.

World Book Day Titles

We snapped up three World Book Day Titles.  We went for Diary of Greg Heffley’s Best Friend, Alex Rider Undercover and Kid Normal and the Loudest Library. At 99p they are a bit of a bargain.  Just a short little read that might seem more manageable if you have reluctant readers.

Horrible Geography Collection

This fab collection was only £14.99.  Given it includes 12 books I think it offers excellent value for money!  My eldest enjoys geography so I thought these would give him a different perspective.  From what I have seen so far, they are very educational.  My eldest had completed some work on weather, so looking at the “stormy weather” book helped supplement what he had learnt.  Laura Isabel’s account of surviving Hurricane Mitch in 1998 was an emotional read.  My son then had a greater understanding of the devasting nature of weather.

Danny Dingles Fantastic Finds

My youngest is sure to enjoy these books.  Especially as the main character is an inventor, something he went through a stage of wanting to be.  Apparently, this collection is also a good choice for fans of Tom Gates and Diary of a Wimpy Kid!  Mine have all those books so I am sure this was worth adding.  It was only £5.99 for 3 books so I couldn’t grumble about that.

I also chose a book set for younger children (Spinderella book and plush set) to keep as a nice raffle prize.  There is always someone fundraising locally so this will come in handy when I next need a prize.  Book2Door had plenty of book choices for younger children up to young adults.

I would have no hesitation using the Books2Door site again!  Probably numerous times if the lock-down continues for a long stretch.
