Weekly update

Week 29 of 2020: Cheesecake and Waffles

This week has mainly been about eating, everything from a cheesecake and a cooked breakfast to waffles and a cream tea! I dread to think the number of calories I have consumed.

No experiments this week. With it being the last week of school they didn’t set any new tasks which freed up a fair bit of time. Although I have a couple of science experiments planned during the summer because I am wondering how we will fill so many weeks otherwise!

My son finished primary school this week. It is kind of a big milestone and I was worried it would go uncelebrated. But fortunately, the school managed to throw them a little social distanced picnic. They have missed so many things this year that I am glad the school found a way to help them mark the occasion. It might not have been a prom, however it was still very special. All the children left with big smiles on their faces. I am very grateful to my son’s teacher and all the helpers for making it happen.

To celebrate school (and home-school) finishing for summer we went out for waffles. They were amazing, prepare to have your mouth water looking at the photo below!

Breakfast In A Train Carriage

I was quite excited to have breakfast on a train carriage (see my feature picture). It was a bit of a novelty. To be honest it has done us the world of good doing a few different things this week. We needed some variety as we have covered most of the walks in our area.

It’s nice more and more tearooms are opening up, making the most of their outside space. It felt safe eating out, the tables were well spaced and there was plenty of hand sanitiser available. I had this epic cream scone. It was very indulgent. My husband and my youngest son had ice cream sundaes. The only issue with not allowing people indoors in Wales is if the weather turns. So, I hope Wales revaluates that soon. As we have a fair bit of rain!

Bilberry Cheesecake

I mentioned our bilberry picking session in my week 28 update. I also promised a picture if the Bilberry Cheesecake turned out okay! Well my husband did an incredible job and I am delighted to be able to share a photo! The cheesecake was very tasty especially the bilberry compote on top. We might have to go bilberry picking again soon, I want that compote on lots of other things, especially pancakes!
