Week 34 of 2020: Mainly Eating Out
I think I feel a little sad that the summer holidays are almost up! But I am pleased I have kept going with these weekly updates so I can go back and remember what we got up too. This week it has mainly been about eating out, with a little sprinkling of other things. I showed you one of the Nordic Santa’s my husband and I did at pottery painting in last week’s update. This week we collected them after they were fired. I love how vibrant the colours are now.
I have been lucky again. My neighbour kindly gave us more tomatoes and another cucumber. We ate them too quickly so no photo this time. Another neightbour has loaned us some jigsaws so that will give us something to do if the weather stays as miserable as they predict. I do have rather nice neighbours really, I am blessed to live where I do.
Eat Out To Help Out
The boys and I finally summoned up the courage to give this eating out deal a try. Not once but twice in the week! We had lunches out as all the evening slots seem to have been booked up well in advance everywhere. However, it was nice we managed to do something and give it a go regardless.
It was lovely seeing the price come down when they applied the discount. Such a generous saving. Now the boys are older and having grown up meals all the time its nice when you can take advantage of an offer like this. Eating out is getting quite expensive otherwise.
Sweet Tooth
My waffle habit shows no sign of abating. Although I am getting on the rowing machine every evening to try and offset some the damage. I did throw in a Nutella pancake into the mix too just for a little variety!
Friends
I visited my friend for a cup of tea and a tour. She has recently moved to a new house and I love everything they have done with it. I especially liked their bathroom floor, I thought it would definitely be tiles. But it’s actually lino!
I was going around snapping lots of photos for inspiration when we finally do more with our house.
Monster Hunt
We went on another walk to check on the stone monsters. Rainbow ones had been hidden this time, so it was nice to spot something different. I heard its coming to an end soon which is a shame its been nice to have something that motivates my youngest to come out on a walk.
We haven’t been up to much else, lots of board games and bingo. Although the boys were pleased, they also managed to get on the waltzer at a fairground and catch up with a friend on one of our trips out.

I feel sad too! My husband went back to work in the school today and I’ve got to pop into my school sometime the rest of this week. I hated him going! I’m glad you had a lovely meal. We have our meal booked for Bank Holiday Monday, thT will ennd our holidays.
We went out for the first time last week for a meal to support our local restaurant it was really nice well organised with plenty of health and safety, I hope more people will begin to support them as these smaller places will fold if not which is a real shame
We had a few nice meals out last week, it’s a nice thing to do. We are back to our second full week at school and it’s sad as I’m still working at home, but the kids are enjoying it xx

The Nordic Santas are awesome, the colours are much brighter than expected, it seems such a shame to only have them on display at Christmas time!
Glad to see you have been taking advantage of the 50% off, we really need to get a move on and eat out! I do love a good lasagna! Oh the Santas are lovely! I really like them you have spurred me on to book a session at our local one incase lockdown happens again. I think we will do it after school one day. Love your friends choice in tiles. We are caught between doing more here or biting the bullet and moving. Neither really appeals.

The Santas do look even more fabulous now they are finished. I’ve enjoyed eating out too, but I’d have liked the scheme to run longer so we could do it over a longer time period – it’s been tricky to get bookings like you say.

Love your Nordic Santas, they are gorgeous! We haven’t been to a proper meal for the Eat Out to Help scheme, though have taken our elder one to his favourite café for a diet coke and a pastry, and coffee for my DH, and it was a decent saving.
The pancake with chocolate sauce looks tasty. The monster rock is cute.
Oh wow, I was impressed with the Nordic Santas last week, but they look amazing now that they’ve been fired ! We’re the same here – winding down and getting ready to go back to school this week, boo ! The monster stones look great fun – it’s lovely to have something to inspire the kids to get out. Great to hear you managed to make the most of the food offer – wish we had the same thing here !
