Small World of Warcraft Review and Giveaway

It’s no secret that I am a huge World of Warcraft fan. So, I was absolutely delighted to hear about the Small World of Warcraft edition which was recently released. If you already familiar with the Small World games then you will have a better understanding of game play mechanics from the beginning. But aside from the exciting theme this game offers other things too.

Artifacts and legendary places

Small World of Warcraft has artifacts and legendary places that enhance your game play. We were having epic battles to try and hang on to those! I managed to claim the Dark Portal from my husband and those 2 extra victory points each round were very welcome! I went on to win so having those extra points did give me a bit of a boost. My son had the Ashes of Al’ar artifact, which was a handy one, once per turn he could conquer any region on any board as if it were adjacent. That was quite powerful to extend his reign.

Battle for Azeroth

Also, you can play a Battle for Azeroth format variant of the game, whereby you play as alliance v’s horde. For us playing as a group of four it would mean we could have assisted our fellow horde or alliance player. The common strategy can work well to get rid of the opposition! Just remember you still score victory points independently so you might need to be sneaky about getting as many points as you can too!

I really like that this edition of the game retains everything I loved about the classic Small World game. You have to be quite strategic about when to retire a race, so you continue to conquer as much of the land as possible. I started the game as the Worgen race, but then retired them and played as Blood Elves. I didn’t plan a third race as my retired race seemed to be doing quite well earning me points anyway. My eldest played as the goblin race and he was thrilled he had lots of bomb tokens for raids.

Small World never gets dull. The fact the races and special powers combos can change during each game, gives you a fresh outlook each time. Similarly, different artifacts and legendary places come into play depending on the ones you randomly picked out for that game.

Small World of Warcraft races

I loved that you start the game having to deal with the pesky Murlocs! Gosh I remember how they used to drive me crackers playing the actual computer game. it felt very authentic to include them!
