In our house we have definitely gone overboard with magnolia walls. We need to inject some personality into our interiors pronto! I don’t want to experiment with different paint colours. Instead I hope to bring the walls to life through wall art. Wall art is the perfect way to instantly add style, texture, and colour to any room.

We have already made a start my youngest likes lions. So he has a whole wall dedicated to prints of lions. I thought he would struggle to find more to add. But the Fine Art America site has some really interesting ones he would love which are in keeping with his current theme. All of his prints are currently black and white, so this one would be ideal!

Wall Art Decisions

When it comes to wall art you have plenty of choice. You can choose canvas prints, posters, and tapestries. Just think about whether you want the art to be a focal point for the room (like my son’s lion themed wall) or something more subtle. When planning your art prints think about sight lines and which pieces you see first when you go into a particular room. Also be careful that your wall art avoids direct sunlight which can impact the quality of your wall art.

Another note of caution is to be weary if the room you show off your art gets hot and humid. Our posters in the kitchen don’t look as good as when we first had them because of the heat and moisture. Apparently ceramic wall art can work quite well in those conditions. So keep that in mind when making your choice.

Easy To Change

I prefer wall art to paint as when the boy’s interests change, we can easily update the prints. We could even repurpose the frames, just put new posters in. It’s a cost-effective and quick way to give a room a new lease of life.

Adding Texture

I love how tapestries add texture, so a room quickly feels more finished and intimate. An excellent material choice if you want to create a warm and welcoming room.

Picking A Theme

If you’re not sure where to start with themes I would recommend trying the Fine Art America curated art collections. Then you can see which wall art works well together. If your lacking inspiration it’s a big help.

Personally, I am loving the LEGO collection.

But I think I could see the Spacefrog designs in my dining room. Tasteful and understated.

Then again, I also quite like the look of the whimsically poetic photographs.

I like that the headache of trying to pull together a theme can be done for me. It’s nice seeing how well all the colours co-ordinate too. I find it quite hard pulling together a vision on my own.

More Than Just Art

Wall art is making a comeback because of COVID. With many of us stuck at home so much more what we choose to hang on our walls can be a form of escapism. Travel is off the cards at the moment so why not pick out some art prints of your most favourite holiday destination. For me that would be Orlando, I can’t get enough of the place. I love this print as it reminds me of our last visit. We were on Lake Eola in a swan boat. I remember admiring that particular sculpture on our walk around the lake. I want my wall art to bring back memories I hold dear.

Think About The Size Of The Picture

Remember not to pick out prints that are too small because they might look lost on a big wall. Unless of course your planning on adding more pictures to it to build up your theme. In that case the curated art collections will definitely be an asset.
