This week my highlight has to be tucking into our Christmas dinner. It was so good, I can’t take credit for it as it’s my brother’s handiwork! But I am ALL about the food at Christmas, I haven’t stopped grazing. We had a choice of carrots, red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, sprouts cooked with bacon and almonds and peas. Plus, the turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets and even Yorkshire puddings. My brother does like to go all out!

My husband and I don’t really buy each other presents and I already knew what my parents were getting us. We had some lovely new bedside lamps and a nice new red microwave (ours broke in the run up to Christmas so a well-timed replacement). But I don’t mind not having many surprises as I become older practical gifts are very much appreciated! Although I did have a secret Santa gift which I loved.

Secret Santa

I opened my secret Santa gift and had a bottle of Buck’s Fizz, a holiday fund money box, a face mask, and this lovely homemade decoration for our tree.

Baked Goodies

My husband has a lovely present off a work colleague. A selection of homemade gifts. There was a Bara brith, mince pies, a little bottle of sloe gin and Christmas pudding. It was such a delicious treat.

We also ordered ourselves a festive box. This included chocolate haggis (although I have been calling it chocolate black pudding), Christmas cake and another cake which was amazing which had mince pie filling, cherries, and almonds. It was so good, I hope they do the same again next year so I can order another box.

Board Games

We have been playing so many board games. It’s just about the only way I can think to get the boys off their consoles. This Rotten Sprouts card game was quite fun. It is like Chase The Ace but you don’t want to be left holding the rotten sprout. It costs £5.99 if your thinking of a stocking filler for next year.

Token Bit Of Fresh Air

The kids aren’t particularly receptive to getting out on a walk. But we managed a couple. I liked seeing a new painted rock of Santa which is my feature picture.

Blogging

Christmas week means its been quieter for blog work. I do have a LEGO campaign going live tomorrow though which is quite exciting. But other than that, it’s just been one post about the possible future of education. No review or competition posts have gone live either. However it has been nice to have a bit of a break for Christmas though, so I am not complaining. Although I do hope it picks up again soon as I like to keep myself busy.

Boxing Day Breakfast

My husband made a lovely cooked breakfast on boxing day! It was just what I needed to find the energy to stash all the Christmas presents, the board games, books, and computer games now have new homes. At the moment our Christmas tree is still up, which is something of a Christmas miracle as we usually have it down first thing on boxing day!

Today my husband started painting our new bathroom. We have gone for Manhattan Grey. I am quite excited to see how it looks when its finished. It’s been quite a busy Christmas week but such an enjoyable one. The boys seemed much more grateful this year for their presents than any other. Plenty of thank you’s and appreciative hugs for my husband and I.
