Home Workouts Revolutionising the Way People Think About Exercise

There was a time when the amount of exercise a person did during the course of a week came down to whether they had a gym membership, as well as if they actually used it. However, things have now changed wholesale with more and more people working out at home. Finding that there are just as many stress-reducing qualities to be found in home workouts as there are in one hosted at a gym complex.

In this article, we take a look at how the rise of the home workout routine has revolutionised the fitness industry, and where it could take it next.

People have begun to realize that many of the pieces of equipment found in a gym are not necessary for the normal levels of fitness they wish to attain.

Online Fitness Trainers Have Mass Appeal

Many people will have been to a gym and been put off by a trainer with a bad attitude. Although most trainers are incredibly professional and polite by virtue of their job necessitating it, sometimes people can strike up a better rapport with a trainer they find online or via social media.

This has led to a whole host of online fitness gurus becoming A-list celebrities. Each of them boasting their own unique way of putting people through their paces. Some of these personalities include Joe Wicks and Adriene Mishler. The latter being a one-stop shop for yoga sessions that can all be completed easily in a confined space.

Sometimes it does not even have to be a fitness trainer or yoga instructor leading a class, with pro sports stars devising creative ways to train while in a hotel or living room. Some of the best of these are tennis players, who are active on social media platforms showing how they continue to sharpen their skills whilst indoors.

Other sports stars who have done similar things include heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury. As well as football stars from many of Europe’s top domestic leagues.

More and more beach-ready bodies are being sculpted on people’s driveways, in home gyms, and in back gardens. Whilst doing away with the need for sweaty gym facilities

Fitness and Diet More DIY-Centric Than Ever Before

Although it can sometimes be easy to point towards clear reasons for people exercising more at home, there is no doubt that this is the way that personal exercise has been headed for a while now. Evidence of this is everywhere, such as the fact people now track their own calorie intake and step count using Fitbits and apps. Or folks using home food delivery services that provide the exact portion sizes to fit a strict diet regimen.

Add to that the sad realization that amateur sports teams in the UK have been on the wane for years. As people seem to favour individual pursuits such as running. Therefore it becomes clear that the concept of working out and doing sport at home has been a rising trend for a good while.

Exercise No Longer Constrained by Schedule Conflicts

Signing up to gym classes has long been something of a nightmare. It leads to gym clients being left disgruntled by not being able to gain access to the most sought-after classes at peak times.

Online-based classes have no such limitations. So with that in mind thousands of people can join in with a class wherever and whenever they please. Allowing them to fit exercise around their work life, rather than the other way around.

This has also given rise to the 10-minute fat burner exercises people do first thing in the morning. All before jumping in the shower and grabbing a bite to eat for breakfast!

Home Workout Systems Have Become More Sophisticated

Many fans of traditional gym spaces will cite the fact that they like the social aspects such facilities provide. But there are now many sophisticated home workout systems that have that covered too. Actually letting athletes compete and interact with other like-minded souls from all over the world.

Perfect examples of this are virtual cycling simulators like Zwift and Sufferfest. Expect more such systems to be devised for other sporting activities soon.
