Week 5 of 2021: Counting Down Until Half Term
Only a week until half term I can honestly say I have never been this excited! A whole week without school tasks it feels like its going to be a proper holiday even if we can’t go further than walks from our house!!! Are you feeling the same and counting down until half term too? I can’t wait to be just mum again without the battle of home-schooling tasks to coax them to complete.
Afternoon Tea
So, what did I get up to this last week? Well after almost a full month of no treats I went a little crazy and brought cake back into my life in a BIG way! It’s only temporary though as I plan to go back to eating healthier again now. It’s just a place in the area was doing afternoon tea deliveries and I couldn’t resist giving it a try. I didn’t regret my decision; they had the most incredible cakes. You can see them in my feature picture.
But it ended up being a week of two afternoon tea’s! If you’re going to fall off the wagon you might as well do it spectacularly, right? Well, I had my gifted voucher from my Valentine Gift Guide to use up so it was another Piglet’s Pantry delivery. The scotch egg was amazing yet again, these things are massive. I think their main strength is savouries. Although their carrot cake is something I would highly recommend.
Then the boys insisted we ordered from SPONGE cake which we hadn’t done in a while. I think we felt like we needed cheering up this week.
Daffodils
The daffodil buds my neighbour gave me opened out this week and they smell beautiful!
More Painting
I mentioned how my husband started painting last week. The mist coat had identified quite a few rough patches when it dried. It was a bit disappointing, but my husband did his best sanding those. He then painted it again with its first proper coat. I was hoping to see some paint action on the walls too. But these things take time sadly! Perhaps next weekend I will share another photo and hopefully the walls with feature at least a mist coat!
I am too impatient, but I can’t join in the painting it makes my asthma quite bad. Instead, the boys and I were tasked with getting rid of plaster splashes off the skirting. Talk about a rock and roll weekend! It does look a bit better, but we still have more to do. We need longer weekends. I think we might have to cram some painting and decorating into the evenings. The last thing I want is to be counting down until half term for us to then spend the whole week stuck indoors still painting!!! Wish me luck persuading my husband after a full day of work.

I had totally forgotten that half term was coming up. I can’t wait.

We’re counting down to half-term too! Nearly there. Hope you’ve managed to persuade your husband to do the painting so you’re not having to spend the week indoors doing it. That afternoon tea delivery looks amazing as does the Piglet’s Pantry delivery. I keep being tempted to try them out. Love the daffodils. #project365
Lots of cake this week it looks yummy. We have had one too many afternoon teas in the lockdowns. The only way you can make the days different at the moment is with food. It really doesn’t help the waistline! #365
I was counting down the hours to 3pm yesterday! I have appreciated the weekends more this lockdown as we have relied on the break. Have a lovely half term and relax! #project365
I totally agree if you are going to fall off the wagon do it well! They all look delicious. I also have daffs on my desk and they have really helped brighten my days. I do wish that the ones in the garden would hurry up and make an appearance. Hope you have a great half term and it is not all painting and decorating.

I think many of us are feeling tired of homeschooling, so a week of not supervising the school tasks is very welcome. The cake looks lush! I haven’t had a cake from Sponge in a long while, I might place an order in March for my older son’s birthday.
The afternoon tea looks tasty as well! Lovely treats!
Cleaning up paint splashes is a nightmare, you’ll be finding bits for ages. Do they do a gluten free afternoon tea? That would get my interest. Daffodils are such a cheery flower.
Unfortunately they do not offer Gluten free yet at Piglet’s Pantry but I think they are hoping to later in the year, so keep a look out 🙂 Although SPONGE do some lovely gluten free cakes.
