Deciding To Build Your Own Home

If you have ever decided to build your own home, it can a daunting process. There will be many loops to jump over like getting planning permission and being successfully signed off by building control.

Sound Testing

Part of the building regulations involve sound testing. They will want to make sure that everyday sounds do not cross over to another dwelling. So, if you are building a semi-detached or detached building that will be something you need to consider. It might be worthwhile purchasing the best sound level meter, so you know your on track to be signed off. If not, you can add sound insulation in to correct the issue.

Heating

It’s worthwhile considering that from 2025 gas, oil and LPG boilers will be banned from new build properties. So, you need to look at other options for heating if you decide to build your own home. Consider Future Proofing Your Property

Depending on how long you think you will stay in your new build it might be worth future proofing your property. You can do this by adding a home lift so you can continue to enjoy living there even when you have mobility issues as you become older.

Wait Until It’s Finished

As tempting as it is to move in as soon as possible you should wait till everything is done. Whilst you have the workmen at your disposal get everything completed. Scheduling them to come back in the future to finish off the bits you think you can live with never quite goes to plan.
