Pen & Sword Gardening Books Giveaway
I have two fabulous gardening books to giveaway thanks to my friends at Pen & Sword Books. The first one is called Make Your Own Indoor Garden by Sarah Durber and the second is Gardening To Eat by Becky Dickinson.
Make Your Own Indoor Garden

It’s that time of year people start really thinking about gardening. But not everyone has an outdoor space to call their own. That’s why Make Your Own Indoor Garden (£11.99) is such a fantastic book! It is full of ideas how you can fill your home with greenery. It’s well known that plants can make you feel better so filling your indoor space with them is ideal for your health.
The book includes lots of useful information such as how to make an open and closed terrarium, problems with indoor plants and how to avoid them and how to create a hanging plant display. It is a handy resource to have if you have been meaning to add more greenery to your home. Let’s be honest when your stuck in isolation some plants around you can really boost your mood. Indoor plants can even improve your productivity!
I don’t think there has been a better time to get started with houseplants. We have all had a tough time of it with the COVID restrictions. Plants can reduce stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure and reduce the likelihood of headaches as they improve air quality.
Seriously given all these wonderful facts I think I should have started an indoor garden much sooner. But now I have the book I am feeling inspired. Especially as I have a better understanding of looking after them. I always had the occasional plant but often felt guilty it didn’t thrive. I will be closely following the advice in this book about watering, light levels and choosing the right plants for your home. There are certain plants that thrive in most areas of your home and do not require a lot of attention.
All plants need natural light so if a room cannot offer than make sure you move it to “sunbathe”. I liked this tip! We can all benefit from some time in the sun!
Gardening To Eat

I think lots of people have decided they want to grow their own fruit and vegetables after trips to supermarkets were viewed with caution. There are lots of other benefits of growing your own too such as it being better for your body and better for the environment (less food miles travelled to your table!). Time outdoors in your garden is also great for your mental health and well-being. It can really make you feel happy, time in nature gives you a sense of peace.
If you are hoping to make a success of growing your own food then this book is for you! Gardening to Eat (£15.99) is a wonderful guide. It includes recipes you can then make with your homegrown produce. They all sound so tasty like the cheese and spring onion tart, garlic and rosemary potato rostis and raspberry granola pots. It does inspire you to want to make a real success of your gardening efforts.
The book also makes gardening seem much more accessible because it steps you through some of the issues you might encounter like garden pests and how to tackle them.
