Ideas to Make Your Wedding Day Stand Out

These ideas will help make your wedding day that bit more special. My wedding day was over 14 years ago but it is a day I remember with great fondness. Back then we were on a tight budget but if you have a bit more to spend these ideas will make your wedding day stand out and be very memorable.

Although marrying the love of your life is always going to be special even if you have a shoestring budget to work with. So never panic about how little you have to spend.

Décor

flower wall

I think a backdrop for photos is always a good idea. I love the flower walls from Flower Girl Toronto, what a way to commemorate such a beautiful occasion. Flower walls will help focus the guests attention on a particular section of the venue. They are available to hire so you don’t have to commit to buying one outright. Plus, if you can move the flower wall around perhaps from the entrance, then to the backdrop for the ceremony and lastly to where you cut the cake, you will feel like you get more value for your money. So, it might be worth picking a flower wall that is more mobile.

Fun Activities

Why not hand out disposable cameras so your guests can start snapping fun pictures. You can look out for the best single use camera so you have memories of your wedding through the eyes of your guests.  You can give your guests some guidance or leave them to take photos of whatever catches their attention.  Some brides and grooms make iSpy lists such as take a photo of the best dressed guest, best dancer and funny faces. Children in particular might like having a list to follow. It is a good activity to keep them occupied during the speeches which can drag on a bit for them!

Favour Ideas

It’s nice to leave your guests a little gift to show that you appreciate them being there. Traditionally wedding guests would have sugar cubes or confections. Later sugar was replaced with almonds coated in sugar. Nowadays wedding favour ideas are more diverse. You can even personalize the favour with the initials of your partner to be and your own.

Guest Book

guest book for wedding day

The Havoly Tree Drop Box Guest Book is a gorgeous idea for weddings. Guest books are a common aspect of weddings. However, opting for this unique product means you have a great piece of artwork for your new home afterwards. I think its worth going for the 2” leaves so your guests have enough space to write a message. Alongside the guest book some people make up a jar full of date night ideas – I love this concept and as a romantic at heart what a lovely way to keep the love going strong over the years that follow.

Entertainment

Most people tend to hire a DJ; however, you could look at getting SNT JMS to put on a music show. I guess it all depends on the types of music your guests will enjoy. We didn’t have any set entertainment, I was already four months pregnant so after our delicious meals, speeches and toast I was exhausted and ready to settle in for the night with my lovely new husband. If you want more of an original idea you could book a fire performer, llamas to pet or a casino table!
