Gel Blaster Surge Review and Giveaway

I was sent two of the Gel Blaster Surge toys for my youngest to try out. It’s great when a toy can capture the interest of a teenager and actually draw them away from their consoles! That’s no easy feat these days I can tell you. But this toy was met with enthusiasm and an eagerness to quickly get outside to commence the battle. I was pleased as it meant he was getting some fresh air (and vitamin D) and also burning off steam running around dodging gellets.

I thought this toy might be messy with a name like Gel Blaster, I was expecting it to leave a trail of gel everywhere. But it really isn’t like that at all. The gellets break on impact and are also biodegradable so you don’t have to go round on your hands and knees trying to find little gel beads.

Time For A Change

Over the years we have had various toys for battling from balls, darts or water to lasers. I thought we had seen it all, but the Gel Blaster Surge pleasantly surprised us. It definitely is a novel option, even down to the preparation of your ammo, having to hydrate it first by soaking it for two hours.  I think our children were looking for something new and this was definitely it.

My two have also had lots of different activities shooting weapons. They always enjoyed laser tag parties, so I could imagine Gel Blaster Surge parties being very popular!

Lots of Laughter

Gel Blaster Surge

The garden was soon full of laughter as my husband and son tried to avoid each other’s attacks, ducking behind walls or leaning into hedges. I was impressed how long the ready loaded gellets lasted. It’s great battle doesn’t have to stop to soon for reloading purposes.

Gel Blaster Surge

You can either battle together like my husband and son did, or you could just buy one Gel Blaster Surge and enjoy hitting targets in the garden.

Innovative Design

We all loved the innovative design. It’s handy that they include the safety glasses in the box too. They really have put a lot of thought and consideration into the development of this toy. We especially liked that you could even change the barrel from 175fps to 100ps if you find the gellet blasting experience a tad uncomfortable. It’s not too bad really (maybe a little sting), but its nice having that option.

You also have two blast modes, semi-automatic (1 gellet per trigger pull) to fully automatic (8 gellets per second), which gives you more options when heading into battle.

Non-Toxic

The water based beads or “gellets” you fire are eco-friendly and non-toxic. This was very important to me as I have two dogs who also use the garden and I needed to know they wouldn’t be harmed by the beads.

Stockist

The Gel Blaster Surge is available to buy from Currys for £59.95 each, which also includes 10,000 gellets refill pack.

Additionally you can buy refills of 10,000 gellets for £6.99 which seems very reasonable. In the hopper chamber there were only 800 gellets and they lasted quite a while when my husband and youngest were battling away.
