What better gift than a good night’s sleep. Admittedly it might not seem like a conventional Christmas gift. However, its practical and will certainly be appreciated, especially for those who struggle with sleep. Another thing I love about Simba mattresses is that they are made in the UK! We should be doing as much as possible to support the British economy and keep local people in jobs. For example, the Simba mattresses are crafted in Manchester, the titanium micro springs are made in Leeds and the foam layers in Middleton. Even as they continue to grow, they continue to be committed to being made in the UK.

In terms of sustainability Simba work hard behind the scenes making sure they reuse and recycle as much as possible. I was sent a Majority Oakington Bluetooth DAB+ Radio & CD Player Music System in oak (£139) which looked very contemporary and modern. It is such an attractive item for the home and has lots of useful features. It is also available in walnut which looks very refined and elegant.

I was impressed with the sound quality when listening to DAB digital radio, DAB+ and FM radio stations. The powerful speakers definitely delivered. The sound was crisp and balanced. Which is to be expected given that the device has been acoustically tuned in Cambridge using industry leading technology.

It also has a CD player so it’s a good all round unit to have. I have bought DAB radios in the past and they did not include a CD player. In my opinion its much better having it included, so it’s a proper all round entertainment system. Especially if you still have a CD collection, I do somewhere so will be digging it back out and enjoying it all over again!

I was excited to be introduced to the Boostology website an independent retailer based In London. Even more so because for every order placed through Boostology they plant one tree with Ecologi! I love tree planting initiatives and am always happy to support companies that focus on being more sustainable.

Usually, with these schemes they concentrate just on planting abroad. But what I like about Ecologi is that they are working on reforestation in the UK too! This is something we definitely need to push forward with. Especially as the UK is one of the least wooded places in Europe.

Elephant earrings

I was sent the Boostology recycled sterling silver elephant earrings (£20). These are such a gorgeous product. Great value for £20 and arrived in a dainty gift box so you don’t even have to wrap the gift! Being recycled they help protect the planet. When mining metals if great care is not taken with extracting and disposing of rocks then waterways soon become contaminated, endangering animals and plant life. Mining has impacted elephants habitats; it makes sense to buy recycled jewellery whenever possible.

Aside from the earrings, I really liked the sound of the eco essential oil potpourri (£39) which contain natural volcanic rocks. You can keep using the same porous rocks just refreshing the essential oils when needed. It’s good to have reusable products in the home and I have never seen a diffuser like this before, so it makes a very unique gift.

The Copenhagen Company

If you wanted a vegan and cruelty free check out The Copenhagen Company sent me their Scandi Christmas Votive Gift Set (£24). They smelt incredible, citrussy with cinnamon and cloves with a warm woody base of sandalwood and cedar.

For the last few years, I have been buying experiences for my children so they can try something different such as driving a sports car or axe throwing! I like to support family run businesses whenever possible in my Christmas gift guide. Therefore I am very pleased to introduce Pagazzi to you all. The company which was first established in 1980 understands how the right lighting can transform the atmosphere in your home. They have plenty of different options with ceiling lights, wall lights and floor lamps. But also have extended to furniture and homeware at the request of their loyal customers.

Personally, I really love the table lamp I choose. The Mason Copper Touch Table Lamp is ideal when you want more cosy layered lighting. Touching the base allows you to alter the level of light. I went for the Shearling-Collar Suede Slippers which cost £130. They also have targeted cushioning which is very sophisticated. The front is medium so you can push off with your toes, the middle is soft so it’s all about comfort and the heel is firm to reduce impact.

Reading various reviews, it seems like Fitflop shoes and slippers really help those with issues with their feet, such as plantar fasciitis and arthritis. It’s no surprise really given the advanced technology built into their products.

Nylabone

I must not forget my dogs in this Christmas gift guide, they always have to have a few presents. I was sent two of the new gourmet style chew toys infused with intense flavours from Nylabone (you can find stockists through their website). One was bacon flavoured and the other peanut butter. They also do a chicken variety. Both my dogs really enjoyed these long lasting chews. It’s not just about the flavour Nylabone have put a lot of thought into the shape of the product too. Working from home when you have pets can be a challenge at times. Especially because they want your attention ALL of the time. When they were younger the Aquadoodle sets were a firm favourite for both the boys and myself. I liked the fact they could be creative and there would be no mess as the water would dry up quickly afterwards and they could repeat the process!
