Week 39: Curry & Cake
I though I might be a bit light on pictures this week, so, I was in two minds whether to skip this weekly update all together. But seeing as I have done such a good job keeping up with it for the last month or so I better not break the habit. Once I have a break, I take what feels like forever to come back again! I have got myself into a good routine at the moment. It’s been a nice week with a curry, watching fireworks and catching up with friends.
Out For Dinner
We went out for an Indian meal this week as it was my mum and dad’s present from us for their Golden Wedding Anniversary. They hadn’t wanted a present, so a meal out instead was something nice for them to look forward too instead. Especially as we invited my brother and his girlfriend too! It’s good to get everyone together as much as possible.

I went for my usual mango and honey chicken curry with vegetable rice and a garlic naan. I tend to stick to the same format each time as I know I like it. But I do wish I was more adventurous, not that I could tolerate anything spicy! It has to be a mild curry. Any time I try and eat something spicy I have a coughing fit!
Fireworks
My husband and I watched a wonderful display. They had some incredible fireworks that changed colours three times lighting up the sky all shimmery and beautiful! I had a pork bap with stuffing and a cup of tea in the car first.

The seated food area was jam packed and the weather was awful, so we retreated to the car. It was nice just to get out just the two of us. Life seems like endless chores at the moment, so we need to prioritize time as a couple too!
Lunch With The Ladies
I had lunch out with two of my friends. It was good to catch up. I had blueberry and lemon cake for dessert (my feature picture). It was a lovely treat! Although I have now totted up what I spend on eating out each month and it was a bit of an eye opener!
Although this month I am planning on joining the gym with one of my friends so maybe I can start to have exercise instead of eating catchups, which might work out a lot cheaper! Mind you I am not sure what pictures I will get for my weekly updates if eating out doesn’t feature!
Breakfast with Hubby

Last week we went out and I had the trifle, this week we went out for breakfast. For a change I actually went for the vegetarian breakfast, and it was a delight! I had avocado on sourdough with a poached egg and the most amazing leak, cheese and potato “sausages”. I might be tempted to go vegetarian much more often.
Free Treats
Our lovely local cake maker dropped off a complimentary box of treats to me which was so incredibly kind. She makes the most incredible cakes, including my son’s birthday cake. I got to sample her cookies, a biscoff slice and a crunchy brownie.
I actually have had a week of lots of people being very kind to me. After mentioning to my mum’s neighbour how beautiful her sparkly hair slide looked she said she thought she had a spare at home and she gave it to my mum for me. Then we had a free car parking pass from my neighbour to watch the fireworks. I am lucky to be surrounded by so many generous people. Thank you to each and every one of you!

It does sound like you have had a nice week. The Indian meal looks so good and what a great gift for your parents.
Good luck with the gym. x
What lovely free treats you’ve had this week. I love fireworks, can’t wait for bonfire night this year. Lovely idea to go out for a family meal rather than buying a gift.
The veggie breakfast sounds really good. You’ve had a busy week, eating out, that’s lovely.
Food updates are fab! Love the sound of the mango and honey flavour combo #project365
That vegetarian breakfast looks amazing. I’d be tempted to go veggie more often with a breakfast like that too! How lovely to have a complimentary box of treats from your local cake-maker and lots of lovely little moments of kindness from other people too.
