Do You Have “A Song” As A Couple?
It’s amazing how a song can trigger deep and powerful memories. For me its Snow Patrol Chasing Cars. Every time I hear it, I am transported back to when my now husband and I first started dating. Initially we had a long-distance relationship and it was tough not seeing him as regularly as I would have liked. He would hop on the train and take 8 hours to visit me as often as he could. But until we moved in together that song kept us going.
That song would come on and I would feel all mushy inside, it would tide me over until we met again. With previous relationships I never had a song. So maybe it did cement our relationship, because 13 years later we are still going strong. The Panasonic wireless home cinema system has such beautiful sound quality when you do make that big decision and finally settle on a song you want to make sure you have the best audio equipment to really do it justice.
How do you decide what song defines you as a couple?
Songs can define events, so it could be a track you heard when you had your first kiss, or you might just find the lyrics meaningful.
When we first got together, we were completely smitten so the song really suited how we felt! We felt a connection with the lyrics.

When we were with each other nothing else seemed to matter. Fast forward over a decade later and we have many more responsibilities, mainly raising our two gorgeous boys and looking after our dog and now a budgie! But my husband still holds my heart and always will.
Even if we have both had bad days playing our song reunites us as a couple. It has a positive impact on your emotions and strengthens our bond as a couple. Listening to Chasing Cars brings us closer together again. Reminding us of the time when it was just the two of us.

Whilst writing this post I had to play it! Even listening to the intro music before the lyrics start, I always feel a deep bond with my husband. My heart swells and I remember how much we mean to each other. That song will always lift our spirits as a couple.
Have you and your partner chosen “a song”?
For me a Our song, isn’t one where words describe each other but it is a song that reminds each other of each other. If i ever get married to my partner I can see our guests being shocked at what I could choose for Our song haha
We dont have a song, we could never agree on one. I love the snow patrol one you have though.
We have a couple that remind us of when we first started dating such as I’m Yours by Jason Mraz. That always makes me think of my partner.
I don’t think we have a particular chosen song, but John legend all of you will always be one which reminds us of each other and dating x
Ha, never even though of that before to be honest. It’s nice that some couples do have a song but we haven’t really been inclined to do that. It’s a miracle if we both remember our wedding anniversary.
We don’t have a chosen song but I walked down the aisle to Dance Me To The End Of Love and it always makes me think about my husband.

We have a couple of songs, our wedding dance song was ‘Against All Odds’ which was quite fitting as we’d had a number of family issues leading up to our wedding (as you do)
Scott and I aren’t married yet but we’ve been together for 12 years and have so many different songs 🙂

Such a lovely post. Music is something that definitely brings people together doesn’t it. So many songs bring so many memories, I don’t think I can chose just one.
We do have a song. It’s from a film we both love. I think it’s romantic to have a song and something special in a relationship
