It is fair to say that holidaying in the UK has been getting more popular over the last few years but since Covid-19 it may well become the only sensible choice for millions of British people this year and beyond. UK holidays may have never been on your radar before but it now seems like the only option so here are a few thoughts and ideas about how to make sure you can still have an amazing time and also maybe find out a little more about our lovely country.

Camping, Glamping and Campervans

OK, let’s get this out the way first. A lot of people will be reading this and stop at this point. “I am NOT going camping” they are saying, well there are lots of options and they may just change your mind. Camping and Campervaning offer a great value accommodation option and it can be a lot of fun. Yes, camping can be cold, wet and miserable but that’s normally when people have the wrong equipment. There are some amazing inflatable tents out there now that are big, easy to put up and certainly waterproof. Some decent bedding, good clothing, and a space to cook some great food and camping can be amazing. Also, with Google reviews and the like you can find, in detail, what a site is like right down to the all-important toilets!

Campervans offer a great way to be enjoy the benefits of camping in a more solid setting. They are, however, rather expensive to buy. Thankfully, these days you can hire a campervan for a trip and give it back at the end. There are a number of companies like Southampton Campers offering this kind of service. It is a really cost effective way for UK holidays and one that fits very well into a post Corona social distanced world.

Glamping is also very popular, especially for those who don’t really like camping! Luxury pre-set up tents with real double beds, wood burning stoves, sheep skin rugs and so much more can really make camping a very pleasant experience. This year could well see glamping going to another level because sites tend to be very spaced out!

Mind Blowing Places

For a lot of people this may seem odd, but the UK really does have some amazing places to go! We are not talking about some quaint little market town somewhere, although these types of places can be nice, we are talking about stunning beaches and scenery and lots more. You can be spoilt for choice with UK holidays.

The New Forest

Oddly this place isn’t exactly a forest, or very new but it is a brilliant place to visit. Open heathland, woods, lots of streams and rope swings plus free roaming ponies and livestock it is bags of fun for families and couples alike. It is a great place to camp but also to grab an Air BnB or a hotel. You can be out in wonderful open spaces as well as wandering round nice little villages and towns. Lots of great pubs and its not far from the beach either. Plus there is a world leading animal park down the road too.

The Highlands

If you live inn the South of England, then Scotland will certainly feel like a bit of a trek. However, it is totally worth it. The key to that kind of journey is to stop somewhere in the North for a night and make a holiday of the trip itself. Certainly, ideal if you are in a campervan or just a great excuse to have a night in a spa hotel. You really have to go there to understand just how beautiful Scotland really is and the Highlands is just one part of it. The scenery is literally out of the movies and there is loads of things to do. Amazing wildlife, mountains, lakes and lovely towns and villages make this area a bucket list item for anyone holidaying in the UK.

Pembrokeshire

Wales, like Scotland offers some of the most amazing scenery in the UK. Pembrokeshire is just one lovely area in a very scenic country. The reason Pembrokeshire gets a mention here is the beaches! If you want a beach holiday in the UK this has to be on the list. There are too many beaches to mention here but you can rest assured you will love the ones you find local to your accommodation. Sandy beaches, super clear waters and the chance to see dolphins and loads of amazing birdlife all go to make this a great place to holiday.

You can even go out on a boat dolphin watching! A lot of people might be surprised at the fact you don’t need to go abroad to see dolphins! Plus on top of the natural beauty there are lots of attractions for your children. We really like Heatherton World Of Activities.

So Much Choice

There really are so many amazing places to holiday in the UK this article isn’t big enough. Dorset offers some brilliant options from towns to beaches and more. Devon and Cornwall are both well known and for good reason. But you can jump across the country and head to the Suffolk countryside or coast for a very relaxed and different feel. Or perhaps head to Yorkshire for big scenery and a warm welcome! The point here is that we should not be down about possibly not heading abroad this year. By holidaying at home we can put some money into our economy which will help us all in the long run.
