This summer if we go away it will be in the UK. My husband is our driver but given the nature of his job he is very busy right now. Hopping on a train going to Brighton is easy so that could be something for me to consider just so the boys and I could have a change of scenery. I don’t think I have the confidence to jump on a flight for a while yet! But I still want to create some special summer holiday memories. So, I have compiled a list of family friendly attractions in Brighton.

British Airways i360

If you want to take in the views a trip on the British Airways i360 is worthwhile. We have been in a London Eye capsule but the i360 is 10 times bigger. I am sure the boys would find it quite impressive. Children who have visited this attraction say they enjoy feeling like giants looking at the views from a great height!

It costs £7.40 for a child (4-15) and £14.85 for an adult. British Airways i360 takes 25 minutes so it can be quite expensive for a family when it’s over relatively quickly.

Brighton Palace Pier

The pier has lots of traditional fairground rides and games. You can buy a wristband online for £20 for adults and £10 for children (under 1.2m), which saves a few pounds on the kiosk prices. The wrist band gives you 2.5 hours of fun at the pier.

After that you will probably want to treat yourself to fish and chips or a bag of sugary donuts.

Sea Fishing Trip

My eldest would love it if I booked us on one of the sea fishing trips. Looking at the photos of people who have been fishing on the Brighton Diver they have had some amazing catches.

Volk’s Electric Railway

If you want to travel in style (and your children are making a fuss about the long walk) the oldest electric railway in the world is a nice option. A family return ticket will set you back £13.10 and you get to experience a bit of history. It opened way back in 1883.

Brighton Toy and Model Museum

This intriguing museum is called a “hidden gem” on tripadvisor. It is set over four cellars and has a collection of over ten thousand items. A family ticket costs £14 and children will enjoy seeing toys from the past, with the likes of Hornby Trains and Corgi Toys featuring.

Free Attractions

If you are worried you are spending too much. There is plenty you can do for free in Brighton with your family too. Brighton Fishing Museum is full of films, photography and paintings that document the rich history of Brighton Fishing Community and it doesn’t cost a penny to have a look around.

There is also the Booth Museum which is free to enter but is currently being renovated and unfortunately closed until 2021 (so something for again). It has lots of exhibits of the natural world, with fossils, bones and even butterflies.

If you would prefer to do something outdoors for free there are ping pong tables available at Brighton Marina (the largest marina in the UK) or head to the shingle beach!
