Week 31 of 2020: Cocktails and Tombola
It has been quite a busy week really. I had my very first experience with Zoom. I had an online event with Moonpig which I will be covering in an upcoming blog post. As I hadn’t used Zoom before I was a little nervous. Even so I decided I would go still ahead, I guess it’s always worth pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and trying something different. How else do you grow as an individual? Plus, it was a lovely idea, we were sent a bouquet of flowers for flower arranging and a bar set to try making a few cocktails.
It’s handy having all the tools at home now. I am a bit of a pro with my muddler for crushing the fruit, the Mexican elbow to squeeze out the juice and the jigger for measuring out quantities! I think I could give Tom Cruise in the film Cocktail a run for his money soon enough! Although I did have a bit of a problem with my ice! It was all clumped together so I had to be muted in the meeting as I was bashing it in the packet on the floor so loud no one could hear the bartender speak!!! Cringe… I have since learnt how to turn sound off myself so I don’t have to do a repeat performance of that ever again.
Oh, and my mum also rang midway through the event…
Cocktail Afternoon
Anyway, I felt quite confident in my cocktail making skills by the end of the session, so much so that I invited a friend over the very next day for cocktails in our garden. She thought the drinks were very refreshing and enjoyed it! Although I did have a bit of a sore head that evening! The boys made fab assistants they enjoyed shaking the cocktails and adding the ingredients.
These were the Summer Garden cocktails (45ml Vodka, 25ml lime, 25ml sugar syrup, mint leaves, cucumber, 25ml elderflower soda).
Cake Run
We went for another cake run to the little farm shop this week. I stocked up on some more millionaire slices. I had planned to ease off the treats this week, but it was very sort lived! This time we met with some gorgeous ponies that you can see in my feature picture. They were so friendly. They seemed quite used to human company and were quick to come over to be stroked and made a fuss of.
Fundraiser
My friends were hosting a fundraiser for a worthwhile cause, so I went to along to show our support! It was held outdoors so it felt safe and there was also hand sanitizer and signs encouraging social distancing. We picked a quiet moment too, which was a good thing as let’s just say my boys were a little hooked on the tombola. They didn’t want to leave until they had lots of games! By the end they had that many we could have opened a small shop with all their winnings (pictured).
Clay Modelling
My son made use of another of his JumpingCLAY packs this week. He enjoyed creating a funny little creature so much, he then made a whole family of them. I liked them too.
Blogging
I was quite glad to review some Humble Brush products this week. They were very eco-friendly! I think its great to find products that help you cut back on your plastic usage and save the environment. Additionally I finished my 10 days trying Colgate Advanced White and I did see an improvement in the colour of my teeth! Fingers crossed next week I should have a few more competitions live as I know how much my followers enjoy them.
Ahh! My girls have been using Zoom lots over the last few months. They think it’s great. Well done on pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Cocktail making sounds like fun. It did make me chuckle about you being muted.

Wow, that’s a lot of tombola prizes. I never win anything on them.
I use zoom a lot for work, but have also been using it for leisure where needed too. It’s fine once you’re used to it (( have to mute and turn my video off so I can put food in the aga during meetings!)

Lol, I’ve had a few Zoom meetings where I’ve had to mute because of various things going on in the background too and have had a couple of times when I’ve forgotten to mute before yelling at the kids/husband about something! Doing a flower arrangement and making cocktails sounds it was fun though. That’s quite a haul from the tombola. Love all the little colourful clay creatures. #project366

We have been using Zoom since the start of lockdown with online karate classes and other classes. It is pretty good.

Cocktails sound like fun! I have not made one for ages.. and since I will have a lot more time on my hands this week maybe I should give it a go. Those little creatures look very cute and the cake run sounds naughty but fun x
