Week 2 of 2022: Baby Shower, Bingo And Baking

I missed last week’s update, only a few weeks in and I am already slacking off! But where does the time go. Anyway, this week I went to a Baby Shower which was lovely, plenty of cake and lots of cups of tea was drunk. My friend’s husband made some gorgeous scones you can see pictured below.

Another friend had been baking cheese and chili scones and cashew chocolate brownies. I cheated and brought the crisps. It was so nice to get out of the house and catch up with friends.

Bingo

Bingo

I have felt like I haven’t socialized enough lately, so I have been making up for it. Last weekend I invited my mum and dad over the cheese and crackers and a few games of Bingo with my youngest. I bought scratch cards as prizes hoping someone might win big. However out of the 10 scratch cards we had just one winner of a measly £1! I am glad I only buy scratch cards for birthday cards or prizes as they do seem a bit of a mugs game otherwise.

Baking

My eldest made a fab Victoria Sponge today. It was very tasty; I am on my second slice of the day! Hopefully he will do some more baking next weekend too.

Walk

I arranged a walk with my friend. Afterwards we went for lunch, I had a cooked breakfast. It was well deserved after doing 20k steps. We took in some lovely views, and it felt good to be outdoors in the fresh air. I wish I walked more. However, my husband and the boys don’t have much go in them at the weekend. I have to make the most of the rare opportunities in the week. I even managed to get back to the gym this week, which is a good thing given the amount of cake featuring yet again!

Reading

I was so pleased to win the book in a twitter giveaway thanks to Echoes In An Empty Room. It was called You Are Enough which is a good book to read after the tough time I had lately. It is giving me a much needed confidence boost and will help me have that happy new year I so need. Hannah kindly also included a pillow spray and a lovely bookmark which were very welcome extras. It’s gone very quiet win wise lately, I am keeping my fingers crossed more wins will be on the way soon!

I also read The Catch, which was a gripping read. I don’t think I have read a book that quickly in a long time. Forgetting my usual shows on Netflix as this book had me hooked. Definitely one I would recommend. I passed my copy on to a friend so hopefully she will enjoy it as much as me.

Hob

Finally, our hob on our new oven is working! The company took what seemed like forever to send over the conversion kit, but we got there in the end. This week my husband even had the BBQ set up outside just so we could boil some water and cook our spaghetti for our meatballs.

Naturally because it was BBQ time, he had to have a beer! Ha. I am so happy we can stick to using our proper hob now though. It’s too cold for cooking alfresco.
