Day 8 Of Our Las Vegas Holiday: The Jardin Flowerpot Cake

We choose to jump out at the Strat on the return journey from the horse riding trip. As the day was still young, it was far too early to go straight back to our hotel. My husband was enjoying popping into as many casinos as possible on this holiday and just having a quick go on the way past. So, it made sense to work our way from there. Gambling isn’t my thing, but it was a good way to get me into different hotels and see what they had to offer. I don’t think I would have remembered the Jardin flowerpot cake either if it wasn’t for my husband’s urge to check each casino out.

The walk seemed safe enough in the daytime. Plus, it was nice not having to skirt round people trying to get you in a picture with them that side of the strip.

Circus Circus Free Acts

He did the same in Circus Circus. I was quite glad to be here as I had heard about the free circus acts and wanted to check that out. It wasn’t too bad we had 30 minutes free entertainment. As I have said before you don’t get much for free in Las Vegas so when you do you need to make the most of it!

There was a warmup act then Free Ladder Man came on. He has actually been on American’s Got Talent and is a Guiness World Record holder, so Circus Circus give you quality for their free entertainment offering. We all enjoyed watching his balancing skills. My camera doesn’t like to zoom and take a clear photo as I have a very old mobile but you get the idea!

Resorts World Mini Sphere

We loved seeing the big sphere in Las Vegas but did you know there is a mini version in Resorts World. It was nice to spot it on our walk through and watch the changing screen.

Wynn Las Vegas

Then on to another casino, my husband was ticking them off quickly today! Fortunately, by heading to Wynn it reminded me about a lovely brunch spot called Jardin. We were fortunate we only had a thirty minute wait and then got seated.

I had the red velvet pancakes ($22) which were incredible. After being spoiled with better pancakes I think I might struggle to go back to Denny’s ones. I wasn’t expecting my pancakes to come out with what looked like a candy floss hat. Our lovely server suggested filming it and then she poured something on top and it all melted down into the pancakes and made a delicious sauce. It was quite the experience! Also I was happy for the candy gloss to disappear because I don’t like candy floss and was a little disheartened to see it on top of my pancakes when they first arrived!

The Famous Flowerpot Cake

I also ordered the signature Jardin flowerpot cake. This cake was mentioned a few times in the Las Vegas Facebook groups so I just had to get one for us to share. Although being so full after the pancakes I ended up having it boxed up to take back to the hotel to eat again. It cost $21 for the cake, but it really is a thing of beauty and so cleverly designed. Well worth buying. When we ate it later, we appreciated the chocolate sponge, chocolate mousse and raspberry jam with the crumbled cookie “soil” on top. We had iced flowers but I have seen it looking very pretty with real flowers. Our server kindly boxed it up and even gave us cutlery and napkins to go.

King Bear Statue

We got to see the King Bear statue in Wynn. I do love all the themes and details in the Las Vegas hotels. I think Wynn looks like a fantastic hotel to stay in. Definitely more high end.

Bellagio Fountain Show

We then went on to try and find a vantage spot for the Bellagio Fountain Show. Unfortunately, because of the Formula 1 construction we only managed to get a side view which didn’t show it off in all its glory. But at least I felt like I saw it. I could imagine with a good viewing spot it would be very impressive indeed. Especially when you can hear the music too for the full experience.

Back to our hotel

Then it was back to our Virgin hotel for a rest and dinner. We returned to the Kitchen onsite, and I had the Chicken Parmesan ($26.50) which was amazing. But the portion size was a bit too generous for me.
