Orlando really is a dream family holiday destination. We visited in May 2018, but I am sorely tempted to return soon. Since our last trip there have been some BIG changes to the parks. We just missed out on the opening of Toy Story Land on the 30th of June. I was so keen to get on the Slinky Dog rollercoaster too. Naturally I was a bit disappointed to miss out on that. To be honest though new Orlando theme park rides are always an excuse to come back! I better get saving as there is so much to look forward too.
2019 is another good year for new rides and attractions at Disney. So even though we covered the parks extensively back in 2018, we have so much more to discover! Make sure you get your theme park tickets in advance, so you don’t waste any time queuing at the entrance!
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Arriving in August 2019 this is going to make the park go crazy! I dread to think what the crowds will be like and they have said not everyone might get to access it depending on the park capacity. I want to fly the millennium falcon as much as the next person, but I might wait till 2020 and the novelty dies down a little. Mind you we were getting a dab hand with the crowds at the theme parks by the end of our stay.
I am quite keen for the boys to give a go of building their own lightsabres at Savi’s workshop. That would be cool, although I am sure it will cost a pretty penny.
Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy
One of the things I love about Disney theme parks is the photo opportunities. Well after watching this amazing new show which opened on the 31st of March you can queue up to meet Cruz Ramirez from Cars 3. This show my boys would probably enjoy as they liked the Cars films. What I found in May 2018 was that a lot of the shows at Hollywood Studio’s weren’t to their taste. They seemed most suited to a younger audience (although do check out Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular that really was something!).
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
I love these characters and finally they are having their own ride! I think its long overdue. Hopefully it will live up to the hype. It replaces the Great Movie Ride based at Hollywood Studios which closed prior to our visit. People were complaining there wasn’t a huge amount to do at Hollywood Studio’s when we visited, so I am glad they have been working on that. Expect a wild cartoon adventure with this fab new addition to the park. This ride uses 2 1/2 D which is 2D without the glasses – how clever is that!
Not to miss out on Universal, they have an exciting 2019 too in Islands of Adventure with a new ride planned.
Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
Squeals! I loved the Harry Potter franchise and am glad they are adding another ride. I guess they need to pull out all the stops with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening!
Well that’s enough excitement for now but if you can hold off your visit! Disney is thinking of a Guardians of the Galaxy ride in 2021! With so much on the horizon maybe I can convince my husband I NEED to visit many more times.
