You have just landed in London and are excited to explore the British capital and all of its world-famous attractions. But how do you actually move from the airport into the city?

First things first, London is serviced by a whopping six airports:

To help travellers easily move from airports to London, there are different transfer options available. Stansted, Gatwick and London Heathrow airports have train services that connect easily to the centre of London via the tube network.  

Alternatively, travellers can hire cars at the airports at affordable rates. Coaches such as the Easy Bus and National Express allow travellers to book the buses in advance at a discounted rates and are available at any time of the day.  Perfect for those flying out early or landing late. 

If you’d prefer to stay overnight near the airport to avoid a commute back and forth between the city, there are plenty of well-equipped hotels in the area, including the luxurious Park Grand London Heathrow in Hounslow, the perfect place to put your head down before or after a long-haul flight. 

Travel by train 

Some of the airports in London such as London Heathrow and Gatwick have train transfer services to central London for visitors. More specifically, London Heathrow is connected to the London Paddington station and ferries travellers to and fro every 15 minutes.  

If you take The Gatwick Express, you can book tickets in advance or simply tap on with your contactless card. If you’re looking for a discount, we recommend booking in advance. Either way, it runs every fifteen minutes and moves passengers from the southern terminal of the airport into London. 

Use the coach 

Coaches are a cheap and convenient way to move from the airports to the central part of London. Coaches can be booked online and could cost as little as £5, but only if you book in advance. These buses tend to be equipped with free Wi-Fi, excellent air conditioning and comfortable seats. 

Hire a car 

Car hire services are available at the airports too. That means if you have a driver’s license (that’s valid in the UK) you can easily transport yourself, your family or friends from the airport to your 4-star hotels in London. Hiring a car comes in handy especially if you have a lot of luggage or if you plan on exploring areas outside central London that aren’t accessible by public transportation.
