The famous London Eye is one of the most popular viewpoints in London city. While it is – no doubt – a great vantage point to look out over the stunning cityscape, there are other spots that also offer visitors the best London views. 

Here are just a few:

Big Ben

Big Ben is one of the historic sites in London. Not only does it carry the history of the city but it also provides a viewing angle of the city’s vast skyline.  

The area is – generally – open to the public to climb up, but make sure you check online for any closings due to holidays, construction, or other events.  With that said, at the time this article was written, the famous monument is closed due to ongoing construction works. But, you can still view London through the next viewpoint! 

The Shard

If you are thrilled by heights, The Shard is a great place for you to view the city from and enjoy the extensive skyline. From The Shard, you will be able to see up to 40 miles over and across the town!  

To see everything a bit more easily, The Shard provides digital touch-screen telescopes that zoom in to intriguing sights for you. The views vary from different viewing levels, with level 72 allowing you to see through the glass without the telescopes. You might even see Park Grand London Hyde Park from up there.

The Greenwich Observatory

In Greenwich Park sits one of the best London viewpoints – the Greenwich Observatory. It was built by Sir Christopher Wren in 1675 and was referred to as the Flamsteed House. Today, it remains famous not only because the prime meridian passes through it (giving way to the name Greenwich Mean Time), but also because of the stunning views of the Thames visible from the top. 

The Emirates Cable Car

One of the best ways to view London is by riding on the Emirates Cable Car.  

The cable car runs all the way from North Greenwich to the Royal Docks. You will also get a glimpse of the River Thames as the cable car passes over it. Make as many trips as you want on the cable car. Then you can enjoy the amazing sceneries near the river and other sights visible from this movable viewing point.

Richmond Park

The park is also referred to as King Henry’s Mound as it was named after Henry VIII and offers a great viewing point of the city. From the viewing point, you will be able to see cathedrals in the city, including St Paul’s Cathedral among other amazing attractions. This is the perfect place to enjoy a lazy afternoon with a view.

Parliament Hill

Parliament Hill is one of the many hills in London that offers mind-blowing views of London City. Travellers staying at Shaftesbury Hyde Park International who are looking for a perfect spot to spend an afternoon with family… this it it! While it’s not as close as Hyde Park, the trip is worth it! 

Outdoor activities are allowed. Plus, if you happen to be here on a Saturday morning, a farmer’s market is open allowing you to shop as you take in the city from the hill. What could be better?
