Shakespeare fans all over the world stream into London’s theatres every day. Of course, the Shakespeare Globe Theatre in London holds a special place in their hearts. 

The new building is a reconstruction of the old Globe Theater that was built in the 16th century. Back then, it was referred to as the Elizabethan Play House. Watch the shows during the day

London gets very cold at night. To have a wonderful experience, it is always wise to buy tickets and watch the shows during the day, especially during the warmer spring and summer months.  Check online to see what famous drama is being played out during your stay.

Buy your tickets early in advance

Tickets for the shows sell out very fast.  

That means it is important to buy your ticket a few days (or weeks!) prior to avoid any inconveniences at the gate.  

Observe the rules during performances

While it’s understandable that visitors to London would want to document their trip, you’ll have to settle for memories in this case. 

No photographs are allowed during the plays but, you can take photos before the play starts and when the play ends. There are also intermission breaks during the plays as well, and you can take photos then. 

Ticket options available at the theatre

You can choose standing tickets or sitting tickets at the theatres. Both options are available when booking the ticket in advance.  

Standing tickets are the cheapest and, if your legs do not give away too fast, this is a good option. Standing tickets come with a price to pay but they have the best views of the stage. Please note: shows tend to run around three hours.  You will be on your feet for a good amount of time if you opt for standing tickets.  

Stay at a hotel that is near the theatre

Sitting tickets options

As mentioned, these tickets cost a bit more but guarantee a better view.  

You can choose where you want to sit when booking the ticket and how many seats you want to reserve for the play. If you’re worried about comfort, you can pay for extra cushions. This is especially handy if you get a bad back sitting for a long while. 

Dress for the occasion

As we mentioned earlier, London can get chilly. If you are unable to get a ticket for the day and are worried you might get cold, pack a jumper or a jacket. Better to be over-prepared than under!
