#ADgifted I have teamed up with ASDA to promote their campaign about the Power of Play!  I was sent a pack of play cards each featuring a fun idea my kids could try out because ASDA realize just how important play is as part of childhood development.

Play helps children build confidence and self-esteem.  It can encourage them to be more physical or creative.  It basically helps them learn all sorts of vital things that will benefit them in the future!  Please support the campaign to raise funds for BBC Children in Need by collecting your own free play cards from ASDA and whilst you are there buying lots of Pudsey products!  The new Pudsey shaker ears (£3.50) are very cute, even dog wanted to try them on.

The Pudsey t-shirts are fabulous too.  We had an adult t-shirt £6 and the official 2019 BBC Children in Need kids’ t-shirts in grey and yellow which cost from £5 each.

The play cards are a simple idea but very effective.  Each one gave my boys 30 minutes to complete a play task!  The fact they only had a short space of time seemed to spur them on and added to the excitement of the challenge!

The play cards are broken down into different sections, construction, sensory, fantasy and more of a physical challenge!  I think its wonderful that ASDA want to raise enough money to help BBC Children in Need give 30,000 disadvantaged children the opportunity to develop life skills through play.  I was so excited to get behind this campaign as play can really does transform children’s lives.

My boys had a fantastic weekend because we did some of the ideas on the play cards.  They have already said that we have to do all of them!  I am sure we will be busy this week thanks to ASDA Power of Play!  I have some other ideas for spending quality time with your children in my making and baking section of my site so check that out for more inspiration.

Getting Artistic

My boys created a picture with food.  We used pasta as it’s a great material, not too expensive to use and its something most people have in their cupboards as a kitchen staple.

My children felt proud of their efforts and they enjoyed using their imaginations to come up with their own ideas!  Even mum and dad had to join in, I made a hedgehog and my husband attempted a more ambitious dinosaur!

Den Building

Then the boys tried their hand at construction and made a den using bed sheets and furniture.  It’s a good challenge to get them to solve problems and come up with a plan for the structure.

Afterwards they enjoyed tucking in and relaxing in there.  It was lovely to see the boys getting on so well.  The power of play was working wonders for sibling relationships too.  My youngest wants to build another one already.

So please get behind the ASDA Power of Play campaign, it really is a fantastic idea and a worthwhile cause.
