How Do You Make A Successful Career Change?
I love this infographic by Simply Academy who are a leading provider of educational training services. It really is inspirational to see how far these celebrities have come. I can’t get over their initial careers being so different and how successful they ended up being! Anything really is possible with the right determination and drive! Just see for yourself below.

I think I am most surprised by Christopher Walken such a talented actor. Who knew he used to be a lion tamer! Then Danny DeVito was a beautician and worked for two years in a beauty parlour. To me it seems like they were always destined to be actors. They have so much presence. I would have loved to have hired Hugh Jackman for a kids party, but I much prefer seeing him as Wolverine or P T Barnum in the Greatest Showman!
Since watching I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! we keep saying “another day to excel” like Caitlyn Jenner. It really is incredible what you can achieve with the right attitude. So, if you have a dream follow it! I initially did my teacher training but when I qualified, I realised the teaching profession wasn’t for me. It’s quite common for people to leap into the wrong career straight out of university, it can take time to find out what you want to do!
Sometimes you just need that lucky break, but you can increase your chances of getting where you want to be with the tips below.
Focus on Transferable Skills
If you want to make a career change focus on the transferable skills you already have to offer. Wherever you have worked previously there will be some skills that will help in your new career. Highlight those on your job application.
Give it a Try First
If your worried about making a career change you can always start small. Think of it as a side hustle whilst you still have the full support of a regular income is less worrying. When I initially started blogging, I also worked in retail. Fortunately, I soon got to the point I could support myself through blogging alone.
Don’t Give Up
Confidence and resilience are key in any career change. These celebrities didn’t give up at the first obstacle. Some endured considerable financial hardship to be where they are today. Think about an action plan and a timeline so you have something to work towards. You might not get there instantly, but you need to keep making progress. Blogging might have its ups and downs but it’s something I love doing. Hanging in there has given me some amazing opportunities like a press trip to Florida.

Research is Everything
Do your research and see what skills will benefit in your new choice of career. With blogging I made a point of seeing what other established bloggers were doing. Give yourself something to aim for, focus on where you need to develop and always ask lots of questions.
