5 Tips To Achieve Gorgeous Hair

When I was in Orlando on holiday I noticed how quickly my hair dried out.  It soon made me realize how important it is to take care of your hair!  What worked in the UK didn’t seem to be doing the trick anymore.  The chlorinated water from the pools was stripping the sebum from my hair and the weather change was also causing it to dry out.  Only when I started using an intensive conditioner did my hair start to return to its usual condition.  Here are some tips to help you achieve gorgeous hair.

Try Not To Wash Your Hair Everyday

It’s okay to skip a day, over washing your hair actually takes away all the essential oils that keeps your hair gorgeous!  If your worried your hair might smell, try using a dry shampoo product for those in-between days.  If you really can’t stand the thought of not washing your hair everyday then opt for a mild shampoo product.

Cheat!

Yes, if you can’t get your hair looking like you want naturally, then you can cheat and try sites like NiaWigs or Lilyhair.  Both offer natural looking human hair product wigs, so you can have the long locks you crave without all the maintenance and hard work.  Luxy wigs are made from human hair that has never been bleached, dyed or permed so not only are they very realistic, its better-quality hair!  I have noticed since I started dyeing my hair regularly my locks aren’t quite as luscious anymore!

Dealing With Chlorine

I mentioned how chlorinated water caused havoc to my hair!  But I could have limited the impact by soaking my hair in clean water first.  If it had been very wet already it wouldn’t have absorbed so much chlorine!  They say our hair is like a sponge if its already full of water it can’t take in much more!  You can also wear a swim cap of course!  But I didn’t want one of those cramping my style in an idyllic day in Discovery Cove.

Think About What You Eat

Hair is made from protein so you do need to think about what you eat for healthy hair.  If you follow a low protein diet this can impact your hair quality and growth.  If you don’t eat meat, then seeds and nuts contain lots of protein.  Vitamin E will help protect your hair from sun damage, so when I was in Orlando, I should have been eating more green leafy vegetables and sunflower seeds!  Rather than the pancakes, donuts and waffles I was enjoying so much.  If your diet is lacking, try adding a vitamin supplement so you are giving your hair what it needs.

Limit Heat

When having a shower, I always have the water temperature very hot!  But too much heat isn’t good for the condition of your hair.  What you can do to minimise the impact is have a blast of cold water at the end.  The cold water helps close your hair cuticles, so your hair looks smoother.  Plus, it closes your pores so your less likely to suffer from dandruff.  Despite the obvious benefits I don’t feel ready to have completely cold showers yet!  But I do let my hair dry naturally as often as possible, which avoids the damage hair drying would do.  Also you can use the cold setting on your hair dryer once your hair is styled to limit heat damage.  The hair dryer I have also has in built sensor technology.  It feels the air and adjusts the heat control accordingly.
