I was worried I would not have enough to write for these weekly posts with us still being in lockdown. Potentially the weeks can be quite samey! But I have been pleasantly surprised as this week was filled with lots of lovely memories. If you missed Week 19, I will leave it clickable just in case! Here we go with week 20.

Products I have loved this week

Trophies

The boys were kindly sent trophies from North East Trophies. I think these are such a wonderful idea. Children have had a lot to deal with in lockdown. School trips and holidays have been cancelled and friends are being missed.

North East Trophies Emoji Awards were perfect for my boys. They were delighted when they received them. We had the bigger trophies which cost £7.50 each. I thought they were a bargain for something that can make your child feel a sense of pride and true happiness. My boy’s trophies were engraved with “Lockdown Homeschool Superstar”. They were thrilled their hard work in lockdown has been acknowledged. We had a bumpy start with my youngest, but he seems to be knuckling down now. It is nice to let your children know how proud you are of them.

Rainbows

I also am loving the rainbow window stickers from Stickerscape. We were sent two from that range. They have plenty of choice when it comes to rainbows that is for sure! We selected the rainbow stripe hearts and a watercolour rainbow (both £6.95 each).

Seeing rainbows in windows makes my family feel more cheerful. On our walks we are always trying to spot them. Rainbows are about trying to stay positive in difficult times. At those prices you can easily justify adding their gorgeous stickers to your children’s rooms to make them feel happy. Being in lockdown has made me realize how the little things like this can bring joy and contentment.

Afternoon Tea

Anyone who knows me well will know how much I love cake! I was so excited to stumble upon Daffodil Foods who deliver Welsh afternoon tea across the UK. It was another lift to my spirits. The box I bought cost £20. But they have since tweaked their afternoon tea offering, changing it to £25 but including welsh butter and cheese too!

Their compote is incredible, it will be hard to go back to normal jam after experiencing that.

I have sent two of these afternoon teas to family. So, if you want to spoil someone in your family, I can totally recommend this company. They normally specialise in Welsh Clotted Cream, Cultured Creams and Yogurts. But have branched out into Welsh Afternoon Tea Gift Boxes to continue to operate successfully in lockdown.

Birds

My parents and brother have been spending so much time in their garden that a little robin has become quite attached to them. Meet Wilson.

This sweet character is always hopeful of a tasty crumb or two. We now go and visit my parents in their garden regularly following the social distance guidelines. Wilson seems to have become fond of us too. He did cheer us all up this week. I know he is led by his belly, but I would like to think he enjoys our company too!

Our budgie has found a new favourite perch! He tends to favour sitting on my husband’s glasses preening him.

Home schooling

My youngest son had a few fun projects to do this week sent by his primary school. He made scones, they were light and delicious.

He did some coffee art. It is an easy activity to do you just need some coffee diluted in a little water.

He also enjoyed making a structure with spaghetti and marshmallows. I think it is great the school are coming up with interesting activities with plenty of variety. We are continuing with Oak National Academy too. Just to cover all bases.
