Mother’s Day Wine Gift Ideas With Independent Wine

I have written about gifting wine before and how picking a decent bottle takes more thought than just picking out a bottle with a cutesy label. But I thought I would return to some of the other fabulous things Independent Wine are now doing to celebrate Mother’s Day. There really is lots of variety when it comes to gifting wine. Read on for a few wine gift ideas perfect for the occasion.

Zoom Wine Tasting

Independent Wine have arranged two dates for virtual wine tasting with your mum. These sessions are led by wine experts certified by the Wine and Spirt Education Trust. You can relax knowing you have a knowledgeable wine expert who can educate you on how to taste wine.

For £99 you get three full size bottles of premium wine to enjoy plus an hour long tutorial with the expert. The Pinot Noirs from Alto Adige session is scheduled at 6pm on Thursday the 11th of March. The Pinot Noirs session is the ideal way to learn how different growing altitudes in the Dolomite Alps can impact wine flavour.

I was sent the Pinot Noir Rolhüt 2019 (£18.24) which is one of the three included bottles. This grape grows at 450 metres. My mum and husband thoroughly enjoyed this smooth wine.  They both commented on how you can taste the quality with wines stocked on the Independent Wine website. It’s great you can read how each of the wines are made, it shows the love and care that makes a decent wine. Also included is the Pinot Noir Riserva 2017 (£25.39) grown at 700 metres. Lastly you have the Pinot Noir Riserva Vigna Kofl 2017 (£31.96) grown at 1030 metres.

Noble Reds of Piemonte

Whilst the Noble Reds of Piemonte is organised for 6pm on Friday the 12th of March. This session will discuss the regions best known reds. You can enjoy sipping on Francone “I Patriarchi” 2018 (£19.98) a fresh wine with the aroma of fruit and spices. Then you have the full bodied Demarie Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC 2017 (£19.04) with aromas of liquorice, juniper, and strawberry. Last but not least you have the Demarie Barolo DOCG 2015 (£33.54) which has aromas of wild roses, liquorice, cinnamon and dark chocolate.

However if you are interested in joining in one of these sessions with your mum, then you need to get booked in quickly to allow time for the wine to be delivered.
