Week 49: Celebrations and Chester Trip
This week was really lovely, my husband turned 40 so we had lots of fun things planned. We had a family meal out which was very enjoyable, its nice to get together with my parents and brother. Then my husband and I got away for a night for our Chester trip.
Keeping It Sweet!
Naturally my week featured lots of sugar laden treats. Check out the cute Christmas cupcakes we picked up on our journey home.

Plus, our Chester trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Planet Doughnut. They had their Christmas doughnuts out now. I settled for a mince pie one and a Nutella one with white chocolate shavings and sprinkles. As always, they were very moreish!

Chester

We stayed at The Chester Hotel it was a gorgeous hotel room, but it did get quite warm at night! However, the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and the location was perfect so I wouldn’t let that put me off booking again.
Christmas Tree Festival 2021

Whilst in Chester we had a quick look at the Christmas markets but they weren’t a patch on the Manchester Christmas markets which had much more choice with so many more stalls. So, we decided to check out the Christmas Tree Festival at the cathedral. It was a fab idea as we really liked looking round seeing all the trees decorated my schools and local businesses. Plus, the stain glass windows in the cathedral were very impressive.

Sick To Death
During our Chester trip we went to the Sick To Death attraction. It was a bargain costing only £6 each and we both found it very entertaining and informative. The two guys manning the desk were very funny too. You get a torch and you can see dangers of the time glow in the dark.

We learnt so many things and were quite relieved we are in modern times so missed out on the crazy treatments in the distant past. I am glad I don’t have to boil toads for period pain relief!
Cheshire Oaks
We had a walk around Cheshire Oaks and then had an amazing meal in Chiquito the Mexican restaurant. I had the BBQ fajitas and what a huge portion they were.

My husband and I got into the spirit of things and even bought the hats! It was so nice having a proper break away just the two of us.

We played a game of crazy golf at Paradise Island Adventure Golf. It was much nicer that day as it wasn’t crowded. When we went at the weekend a while ago with the boys the place was rammed. It was more pleasant playing crazy golf at our leisure.
Sunday Lunch
We went out for Sunday lunch with my parents kindly treating us and I tucked into my third Christmas dinner of the season. I mentioned my second in my last weekly update. Although I think that might be done until Christmas itself now, however if I squeeze anymore in I will let you know! Maybe not quite as photogenic as the others but still very tasty.

Competition Wins
I have been lucky and had a few interesting competitions wins. The set of cake mixes from Carr’s probably being my favourite as I do love my cake!
