Week 24 of 2020: Breakfast Takeout And Book Bingo
We went back to home-schooling this week. Although we have been a bit more relaxed about it. Rather than aim for too much, I am keeping my expectations lower. As long as we tick off a few tasks a day like book bingo, I am happy as I know the school will be happy enough too! Less pressure seems to be the key.
It also frees up more time to get outdoors. Although the boys aren’t always viewing all the walks so favourably! Mind you they usually enjoy them once you have prised them away from their consoles. They just need a nudge in the right direction. The dog is a big fan of all the extra walks anyway. She never complains and is no trouble when she gets home as she usually falls straight to sleep!
New Walks

I am aiming to try walks we haven’t been on before in lockdown just to keep things interesting.
Sometimes the boys even choose to get along!

Breakfast Takeout
We also managed to find a place that did takeaway breakfasts when we were out and about, so that was a bit on a bonus all round. Bacon, sausage, and egg sandwiches all round! Yum.

It was actually nice to talk to someone different whilst I waited for my order. My husband is still working so he is fortunate enough to have more regular interaction with a variety of people. Whilst myself I am mainly with my two boys, although I do have my chats with Simone from Sim’s Life to keep me going too. She has been a real asset helping me work on my blog behind the scenes which I am very grateful for.
Another Bike Ride
This time we just did 10 miles. I was broken last week after 22 miles, so I thought I better build up my stamina more gradually instead of diving into the deep end! Although my dad’s neighbour apparently does 40-mile bike rides, so I need to up my game considerably.
Book Bingo

This was part of my youngest’s schoolwork. You had to find books that contained magic or had aliens in them and various other things to complete a book bingo grid! We managed to get a full house. Although I did have to loan one of the titles off my dad! Not bad really as we had the other 19 at home. Just finding a book over 50 years had us stumped.
Ladybugs

I bought 100 little wooden ladybugs and hid them around the house. The boys enjoyed finding them, they only cost £5 and its an activity we can do again and again. Once they tire of them, they can go to my mum as I am sure she will find some craft project they will be perfect for. I found the idea in a lockdown group on facebook.
Reviewing
This week we have been reviewing some more amazing books from Welbeck Publishing. I also have a lovely giveaway to win a bundle of six educational books. It is handy having such great books as it does make home-schooling easier. We also enjoyed watching Sonic The Hedgehog Movie, it was very entertaining and we laughed a lot! Some much-needed light relief in lockdown.

Book Bingo sounds fab and well done for getting a full house! I think the pressure is getting to everyone more now, the novelty has certainly worn off and motivation is low! Our chats are awesome and totally spur me on, you have totally made me blush now! 🙂 Thanks chick!
Those ladybirds are awesome and I know Liv would love to go on the hunt, however… I’m not sure she would find them all… I need to tidy up more! 😉 You are totally cracking on with your cycling and putting me to shame, just please don’t turn into one of ‘those’ cyclists! :/
Super jealous of your takeaway breakfast… I spy hashbrowns too… the ultimate breakfast sandwich!
Let’s aim for an awesome week! We’ve got this! Sim x
I like the idea of taking breakfast out, sounds like a fantastic idea. I might try this on the weekend.
I wfh at the moment and start working at 8.30am, my kids are still in bed.
Book Bingo, you’ve an impressive collection of books for the boys.
Lovely family post, thank you Lucy Zelazowski – @londonbirdlucy
It looks like you have had some great trips out. The breakfast takeout is such a good idea! Yum! Yum and the book bingo sounds like fun x
Wow, I don’t think I could even cope with 10 miles nowadays. I’ve not been on my bike in about 3 years ever since my knee started hurting again. Sweet idea with the ladybirds.
book bingo sounds fun, i have quite a few over 50 years old back at home. Well done with the cycling, I have a bike here but not been out on it, prefer to combine my exercise time with walking the dog, he’s also nice and tired afterwards. The lady bird hunt sounds fun, something i can do similar with my grandchild when she’s a bit older.
Lovely pictures. Seeing them makes me want to walk there all day. My dogs are ecstatic when they can go out & lay on the ground as soon as they come back. Nice to have people to talk to. Congrats and Good luck on the miles! Book Bingo sounds cool! Cute idea of the ladybugs
Book Bingo sounds like fun. Well done on completing it. The walks look lovely and well done on the bike ride – breakfast sarnies sound great.
Having a relaxed attitude to the school work is definitely the way to go
Oh that lady bird idea is good. Might try it with the girls.
It looks like you have had some great trips out. Great fun. A breakfast takeout is such a good idea. The book bingo sounds like fun xx
Book Bingo sounds wonderful! I wish our school gave us a task like that, I’m sure my younger son would enjoy it. We do have some old books at home, from my own childhood, so they are definitely over 50 years old.
A more relaxed approach to studies is a good idea.
Long walks are lovely, especially when you have great sandwiches along the way.
What a bonus on the breakfast sandwiches just what you need when out and about. I can not wait for the cafes local to us to start to open. Love the ladybird idea. I have so much I need to do behind the scenes but totally over whelmed by it all at the moment.. Yay for bike rides I think 10 miles is still a very good distance.
I like the idea of book bingo. Those ladybirds are a fun idea too. I think we might have to try breakfast out as well, that’s a fab idea. a 10 mile ride is amazing. Well done. #project365
My kids love playing hide and seek with toys but they often forget where they have put them and we lose a couple each game! #project366
Inspired by you, we managed an 11 mile bike ride this week which was enough. Hubby wanted to go farther but I knew Isaac was struggling
