Weekly Update 48 of 2020: Christmas Is Coming
This week we have started getting ready for Christmas. There is no denying Christmas is coming, it is December tomorrow! I am starting to get a bit more excited now. You can read some of our preparations further on in this post. Usually we don’t decorate our tree before mid December. However with the year its been I felt we were justified starting the Christmas cheer sooner!
Renovations Continued
Well the electrician I mentioned in my week 47 update did a fab job! He commented on how some of the wiring had become quite brittle, so I think we booked him just in the nick of time. My house looks so much better for losing five emergency light fittings which were really quite bulky! Yes, they are useful in a power cut, but they don’t really fit in with the look of our family home.
I couldn’t shift out the old fittings to our bin quick enough.

Although our house now has more holes in it, so we do need to get the plasterer in soon! I try not to look too closely in case a spider pops out! Once the walls are freshly plastered and painted I can finally think about the type of wall art I want.
Hopefully, my electrician will be back this week to do a few final bits. We are getting an outside light sorted. There is nothing worse than stumbling around in the dark during the winter months. Then the plumber starts tomorrow. Our family bathroom will finally have a bathroom in it! We moved in six years ago and ripped out the old bathroom. So, it’s taken us a very long point to save up the money to put a bathroom back in that room!
I would say with renovation projects maybe don’t go in guns blazing. Otherwise you might get everything ripped out ready to start and then run out of funds to put everything back together again! It’s a valuable lesson I probably should have learnt sooner rather than later.
Walk And Breakfast

This week I had another walk with a friend. I was glad to get out. I haven’t been doing anywhere near enough steps each day! Also, it was nice to find a few painted rocks on the walk. This fox one was quite sweet.

We then treated ourselves to a cooked breakfast.

Cake
My husband baked us a cake! It was only a packet mix I found lurking at the back of the cupboard. But it tasted so good with strawberry jam and (rather a lot of) buttercream filling. Plus, I think we needed cake this week we seem to have been rushing around more than usual.

I also did a few more blog posts if you want to check those out; How to add extra functionality to your living room, Wellness tips for new parents, 5 ways to feel better again after having a baby, Loft conversion bedroom ideas For Your teenager, and Bringing personality to your wardrobe. I have a competition I need to get live next week, my blog is a little too short on competitions for my liking at the moment.
It’s All About Christmas
Yes Christmas is coming!!! This week I bought two Christmas inflatables which I love! I have always wanted to buy some but never felt like I could justify the expenditure for something frivolous. But this year has been a bit of a tough one so I thought it might be nice to make Christmas an even bigger occasion than normal. You can pick up these particular inflatables from The Factory Shop, they cost £20 each, which I think is a pretty fair price for the quality and size of them.

I was also sent matching pyjamas to add to my Christmas gift guide, they were delivered this week and I couldn’t wait to try them on. This is our first year with Christmas pyjamas so I think it should definitely be a regular thing! I can see it becoming a new family tradition.
Pigeon on the trampoline

I felt like a contender on I’m A Celebrity after having to pick up a wood pigeon and coax it off the trampoline! You would have thought it would just fly out. But after watching it for awhile I realized I had to step in and help. The pigeon just kept hovering about midway panicking, it is quite a high netted trampoline I guess. But not sure who was more freaked out in the end the pigeon or me! I had to send Sim a photo straight away just so she could share in the moment!
With that the weekend is over! I feel like I need another weekend before facing early morning pack lunch box making so soon. Weekends feel like such a luxury these days, but they never seem to last long enough!

Ahh! I love that everyone is starting with the Christmas cheer earlier than usual. I love your festive pjs.
It sounds like the renovations are going well.
Some of those cakes from a packet mix are really good. A lot less faff than getting all of the ingredients together. x
You look lovely in matching Christmas pyjamas. We haven’t set up our tree yet, that will probably be the job for the coming weekend. Cake mixes are a good staple to have in the pantry. I like to add some extras to jazz them up a bit, and they turn out beautifully.
Inflatable figures look great fun!
Love the christmas matching pyjamas!
We don’t celebrate it but its understandable why everyone is getting into the spirit of it early…I would too.
Glad you managed to get the pigeon out!
Love the PJs! We are finally starting to get into the Christmas spirit I feel that I am a little more organised this year, although still tons to do. The cake looks great well done Hubby!
Love the matching Christmas pyjamas. Sounds like the electrician came at just the right time! Hope you get the walls plastered soon and good luck with getting the bathroom installed. Love the painted rock with the fox and the inflatables. That cake looks yummy. Well done on rescuing the pigeon – that would have freaked me out a bit too. #project366
Fab matching pjs, love them, where are they from? That poor pigeon getting trapped, glad you were able to rescue him. Great job getting the electics fixed and fingers crossed you’ll have the bathroom sorted soon
They are from a site called Shinesty 🙂 x
Your matching PJs show how much you’re all excited for Christmas. OoOoo trying out wall art would be fun. Walk looks lovely and the painted rock looks cool. That’s a very wholesome breakfast. Cake looks delicious. Those inflatables do add to the festivity. I guess the pigeon wanted to play on the trampoline
I am still chuckling about that pigeon, wasn’t the brighest spark in the box was it?! 😉
What an exciting time it is, having the new bathroom finally fitted is awesome and I love seeing how it is coming along! Bye bye old light fitting! How nice is it just to have a clear out and refresh!
That cake looks stunning, is it wrong that I could have probably eaten it all… if I was forced to of course?! 😉 Packet cakes have been a life saver this year, so easy, quick and convenient! I haven’t been out on a walk this week and am feeling guilty for it – it’s too darn cold though and hard to stoke up the motivation. Hopefully next week! Those matching PJ’s are ace, don’t think I could get Liv in on that idea though! Sim x
Definitely feeling more wintry now it is colder but the festive decorations are so exciting! I’d never get my son to twin with us all #project366
I need giant christmas inflatables in my life. Love the matching pjs. Hope you’ve got the electrics and plumbing sorted out now
Oh wow, I love the festive pyjamas and the Christmas inflatables are great – definitely an investment ! I did have a giggle at the pigeon on the trampoline though – what a palaver ! The breakfast looks amazing and the cake is impressive too. Yum !
