Lots of people seem super excited as their children go back to school from Monday. Well, here in Wales, year 7, 8 and 9 might get a day before Easter if we are lucky! Nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Politicians seem more focused on opening for tourists rather than sorting out the situation with education. But hey ho our home-schooling journey shall continue, what choice do we have. Despite the situation I am trying to stay positive.

I don’t begrudge anyone in England for feeling excited about back to school. I just wish my children could join in the celebrations. My children are a bit fed up. They really want to catch up with their friends. We seem to have been in lockdown forever, we even started our Christmas holidays a week earlier.

Trying To Stay Positive

It is hard when I feel in Wales our children have been overlooked. But I don’t want my mood to influence my boys though, so its all about focusing on the happy things from this point on. Now I have got it off my chest I will mention what we have liked this week.

Cake

Today my husband is making a Victoria Sponge cake with the gorgeous looking jam from my Pantry House review I did. I am very much looking forward to having a big slice of that. I have also ordered another afternoon tea delivery for a couple of weeks’ time. My boys were glad they have something nice to look forward too again.

World Book Day Painted Rocks

They hadn’t made any new rocks locally for some time. Although I totally understand that it can be very expensive for them with the paints and everything. However I was very happy to see all the World Book Day painted rocks. These were based on lots of stories my children used to enjoy when they were younger. They outdid themselves with so many wonderful new painted rocks.

Dr. Seuss books were well represented in the painted rocks line up. Dr. Seuss books have been in the news lately, so I wonder if this was one way of showing their support for the author.

Sunshine

It has been so lovely outside; the budgie has enjoyed getting a chance to get outdoors in the fresh air. He enjoys listening to the other birds tweeting around him. Watching him happy lightens my mood.

Also, with the weather improving so much we managed to have a lovely picnic.

We started skimming stones which was fun, usually I cannot manage it but this time I got six bounces on the water! I was quite pleased about that.

Daffodils

The daffodils my husband gave me are still going strong. They only cost a £1 so I think they were a bit of a bargain. It’s good when you can get something nice without spending a fortune. We are trying to stick to a tighter budget this month as all the work in the house cost more than we estimated.

Blogging

This week the boys have been sent a nice duvet cover set each, so hopefully I can get that reviewed next week. I did manage to get my post up about the new offerings from Independent Wine, such as their Zoom wine tasting.  Also I wrote about celebrating St Patrick’s Day at home and how to add luxury to your bathroom.
